Shame no date yet but at least things are rolling along. It must be tricky managing the house, work and a newborn. You guys are doing well! Re: The epic home building race - BRICKING AND PLASTERING N 247Jul 07, 2017 1:17 pm Hope you get a little more sleep on the weekend Rural. Progress sounds like it's still coming along nicely! Can't wait to see that kitchen when it's installed Love seeing everyone's kitchens! Our SS wouldn't give us a date either, so we told him what date we will do our walk through as hubby works away and I want him there to go through it as well. Re: The epic home building race - BRICKING AND PLASTERING N 248Jul 09, 2017 9:53 pm Thanks guys! So yesterday we went to the house, our son is definitely getting comfy with our soon to be new surroundings. Loves going to the playgrounds, gym equipment we have nearby to the new house. We made a big effort yesterday to try to salvage some of the waste products that is going in the skip pin given that we totally missed out on all the framing off-cuts!! MY mighty wife picked out the half-brick and damage whole brick pieces and we've moved them to the back of our lot for later usage... thinking some path boundaries, or plant boundaries.. or maybe even an open fire pit or pizza oven?? Also built a nice ramp with some plasterboard pieces to entertain our son whilst we worked. Also salvaged the pallets that carried our now delivered doors!! Sorry no pics though... we had a busy weekend of soccer and keeping our bored school-child entertained! Good idea to salvage what you can . I hate waste! Re: The epic home building race - BRICKING AND PLASTERING N 251Jul 10, 2017 10:15 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have a front door! Sorry been so swamped with baby and work and catching up on things you can't do when you have too much work and baby... that I'm getting creepy night time photos. And then I broke in... 😋 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Half the internal doors are up. Chippies have their timber cutting thingie setup in the middle of the house again.. None of the recessed doors are in yet. Lots more bricks tossed into the skip again. How do we even keep up!? I am hoping they will have roofing offcuts to make veggie gardens. A neighbour asked for the leftover foam stuff from under the slab. Some reinforcing steel offcuts are in our shed for the shed watertank slab. Re: The epic home building race - BRICKING AND PLASTERING N 254Jul 11, 2017 7:25 am bribiebell Not completely locked up or locked out yet. All the sliders seem to be open/unlocked, which is how I got in. Will have to see what they decide to do as more valuable things/they want to keep things clean and undamaged as it gets closer to finish! I would not put it past some stupid yahoos in town to try and have a smoking/drinking/drug party in there or even squat! Perhaps one of the disadvantages of building in town (during the build phase).
