Is there anything I need to finalise as part of that meeting? In the meantime, my Home Theatre company have done a 3d model of the lounge room... Are you happy with the position of the rear speakers? Personally I'd put them up on the back wall. Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 107Jul 23, 2017 5:49 pm It's atmos 11.2 ...the two subwoofers are behind the screen. The ceiling speakers are in the wrong locations and will be moved. The rear wall speakers can't go along the back because we'll have curtains. Krix have brackets that will allow us to put them in the back corner, that'll have to do. Just be mindful of that garage access door. Opening it to go in the garage could cause a problem. You might not be able to open it fully. The garage aluminium door would have support brackets/bars attached to the wall which could block the access to the garage from the foyer. You probably won't be able to open it completely. Your garage floor is also lower, so is your ceiling which means, there is a good chance you can't put in a high door (2340mm) there because of the garage aluminium door brackets will get in the way and probably have to go standard door only 2040mm. Please check with the drafting team. Best you ask the sales person to check with the drafting team if you can open that door fully if you were to put in a 2340mm door and not be blocked by garage supporting bracket from inside the garage. Hope that makes sense. Unless you open it from inside then is good but again, you can't have the front entry doors open if opening from inside. Looking good. They had to switch which way the door opened to get around it. - View my blog at www.waldorfgrangebuild.wordpress.com Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 112Jul 26, 2017 5:39 pm Gio @fademan Plan is looking good. Also the garage internal door we have moved to the cnr of the study wall as hubby didnt want in entrance as you have paneling you could do that so it doesn't break the paneling? Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 116Jul 27, 2017 2:28 pm Thanks... I agonized over where to put the access door. I did see a plan where it was in the study, and thought about it, but then we'd have to make our floor timber (not carpet), and didn't want people seeing our mess if they come inside that way. I'm hoping by making the access door as close to the front door as possible, it won't break up the flow of paneling along that wall too much. Another idea I had was to make the entry ceiling coffered (a bit like the display but just one section)...thoughts? We didn't include it because the sales guy said the area is too small, do the study instead...hrm Building a Madison 45 with Porter Davis Madison 45 Blog (Send me a PM with your email address to be added) Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 118Jul 28, 2017 4:03 pm fademan Thanks... We didn't include it because the sales guy said the area is too small, do the study instead...hrm We decided to put the garage access door in the study and have timber floor instead of carpet in that room. We had the same dilemma but we felt that having the access door in the corner of the study would not be perfect but at least out of sight. So we moved it there. Works out in the end. I also had french door in the study before but since we moved the garage door there, we didnt want to have the french door anymore. Otherwise you would have to open garage door to get in then open the door again to get inside ..way to many doors Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building the Madison 40 | By Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 120Jul 31, 2017 8:05 pm Battle of the garage access door, I had the exact same issue! I didn't want to spoil the look of the entrance as we also have the open staircase. At the very last minute we added the door back and moved it closer to the entrance. As a lot of friends said we would be stupid not to have a access from our garage, in wet weather etc. looking back now it's the best decision we made. To tell you the truth you don't even notice it's there, it blends in with the white walls.
