Seriously though: scrunch up some aluminium flywire and poke it into the hole as they won't eat through that or I have read that a mix of polyfiller and steel wool will do the job - same principle in both suggestions. The salt damp will be more difficult to fix and I can sorta understand why he is not in a hurry to fix it - a big job. Then just throw handful into the hole either side and tool off with old spoon. Wear rubber gloves and glasses. You need to find a way to make your husband more obedient.
