Bit of a drama as somehow an old version of the tile specification was given to the tiler / ordered, so there were no feature tiles for the main bath (which may have been for the best in the long run, but I am a bit disappointed), and the wrong tiles were laid in the laundry. I actually went and met with the tiler yesterday before he started tiling to discuss things, but we must have missed talking about the laundry. We'd originally selected the same tile for both the ensuite and laundry floors, but changed to a non-rectified tile for the laundry after prestart to save $$. So thankfully this stuff up seems to have been to our advantage! Rectified tile for free! That said, it could have been a disaster and its a bit disappointing that after all the effort I went to with going and reselecting tiles etc, that a super outdated tile selection was used. The only other drama is still no power to site. Total shambles between power company, water company and builder. Luckily our friendly neighbour is helping us out otherwise we'd have been stalled months ago. Glad it all worked out in the end. Thanks. Yeah I agree, a pretty bad stuff up. I guess its a learning that when meeting with the tiler to ensure each and every area is covered. Although that still hasn't helped with the feature tile issue - as its a tile that needs to be special ordered, even though we picked up the mistake it can't be changed unless we delay the whole thing for weeks. All has been laid and grouting started (no floors have been grouted yet). Laundry splashback just grouted. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Love, love, love the ensuite feature tile! We should have had final inspection last week, but its been delayed due to STILL not having power connected! So paving is delayed, finalising electricals is delayed, etc. Apparently it should be done soon..... We're almost there! Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 59Sep 27, 2017 12:25 am I forgot to add an issue that's come up with the airconditioning. When we worked out our house layout, we added a door to the kids wing so it can be closed off. That meant we wanted a second aircon return air vent so that it'll continue to operate properly with that door closed. Since the display plans had the single vent in the kids hallyway already, the additional one was added in the scullery. It was shown in the plan, and allowance was made for it when designing the roofing. However, when we came to organise the aircon install, the aircon company recommended against locating the vent in the scullery due to proximity to kitchen and food smells. That meant that the only place it could actually fit (due to the large size of the vent, and the positioning of all the roof trusses) was in the entry hallway. Fine, great. Easy fix. Until it was installed. Big, ugly "feature".... . You must be happy with the progress you've made in the last few months! Your kitchen looks awesome -- love the island range hood! We've hit a few hurdles with our build. The scaffolding stayed up longer than planned (due to some unexpected complications with a void), meaning we've probably lost a month. Our ground floor roof cover is going on today, however, so hopefully we can be locked up soon too. Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes!
