Isn't that the whole point of putting in an order, so you lock in the price? That really sucks. Now they've lost your business. Idiots! Those choices look really great! Can you remind us what your external colour scheme is again? I went back to the start of your thread and your front elevations show weatherboard, so I'm a bit confused! Where do you have bricks? They recon prices went up in the new financial year. I'm really over it. I'll have to dig out my colour scheme somewhere I think it's a few pages into the thread. I've got bricks along the sides of the house on boundary, lower level and garage. The front and top is all weather boards. Here's some of the bricks we saw today..So hard to get photos they look different every time you take a photo: Selkirk cloudburst Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Selkirk thunderstorm: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Framers have done nothing for the last 2 days. Feel your pain on the carpenters to do more, it took a month for out trades to put our frames up including trusses, mind you they were prefab where your trades are making your frames onsite so a little different there Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 206Jul 15, 2017 9:41 pm charlibear I'm not much help because I love both of those bricks lol. I like Cloudburst more myself, which i think is suited to cooler tones, whereas the other one seems browner/warmer in colour. Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 211Jul 16, 2017 11:19 am Corallake Hi there not sure how I stumbled across your build but what an awesome feat of engineering that slab of yours! Will be following. Can't believe how much house you are getting on your block. Good luck with it all. Yeah it was pretty crazy the way they did the slab. I think it used about 120 cubic m of concrete all up. It's funny we could legally build on 60% of the land. I think we used 59.87% haha. Very hard to fit 41squares of house on a 400m block!! Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 213Jul 16, 2017 10:59 pm JB1 What's your relationship/contract with your builder? I ask because why are you wearing any material price increases? My relationship is really good with him!! Excellent actually I have a budgeted sum in my contract for bricks. It's generic cost per 1000 bricks. I can pick what I like. The one we liked went up in price. Nothing to do with the Builder. That's how custom goes. Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 215Jul 17, 2017 1:21 pm yeah, challenge is that our selections were done after contracts signed. so we had no idea what bricks/floors etc we wanted - so we just put in a cost sum budget for each item. Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRAMING 216Jul 18, 2017 10:50 pm Few updates today We decided to delete the spiral staircase connecting the deck and balcony on rear of house. It will increase security, reduce steel and will save us about 6k. The drafty was really good about it. I'll need to update plans and my permit but hopefully should make the build a bit simpler. Oh and my lower floor framing is nearly finished! Yay. Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 217Jul 19, 2017 2:09 pm Nice work Chris.. slow and steady wins the race. Bugger about the bricks - ours have been delivered today and I'm going to go check the codes on them, they just look so different! Apparently that's pretty standard though. Other thing too is the mortar colour completely changes the look of most bricks. Grey or white can make them look completely different. Hey mate. My slab is a stiffened raft slab. Lots of steel. Poured in 4 stages, each stage has steel connecting to the next poured slab. Took them 3 months to pour it. So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8242 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7514 |
