So they better hurry 1070Apr 23, 2017 10:08 am Just think in a month time you be in your little house with your pets and all the troubles, worrying of the past 18 months will be behind yourself. You will have achieved a huge milestone. You should be congratulating yourself for achieving a big dream item. I don't have the family issues as all my family live in New Zealand. But I do have my partners family that chip in with what I like to call "helpful advice" hahaha. We rent a little run down old house from friends (it was the old grandfathers house). Has no real insulation and very cold in winters in Ballarat. But its cheap as chips rent wise. I commute to Melbourne every day for work. But prior to moving in with my partner I was paying $1565 pm rent. Such a killer on my own. Hopefully, my partner and I will start our journey in the next month. I expect it will be hard going, but I keep thinking it be worthwhile in the end. That's what I keep telling myself. Sarah Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1071Apr 23, 2017 10:19 am Your very right... a month or so more and I will be finally free of my family for good. And I am very proud of myself for doing this all on my own.. but sometimes itd be nice if they cared a little more. Im not ungrateful, I appreciate them letting me stay here, especially as 18 months became 4 years.. and I couldn't have done it without moving home.. but I just wish they were happy for me. Yeah, the helpful advice has been a pain. I can't wait to move out and be free to make my own decisions without justifying everything. Rent is a killer. I was living in an apartment for about $1477pm, and my future mortgage is going to be less than that! I would never have been able to save if I'd stayed there, but even renting something cheaper still would have been tough. At the time moving home made sense for me and my parents, they were supporting my younger sister who is studying in Canberra, so the rent I paid them covered her rent basically.. then once she was able to support herself my rent helped them get out of debt, they are now debt free for the first time ever.. which is super exciting and I hope they buy their own home soon. It will be worth it, but it is a hard journey.. financially and emotionally. Once I have the keys in my hand, a lot of my pain will hopefully disappear. And I won't have to live in someone elses house with the fear of being thrown out and such.. and hopefully my relationship with my parents will improve. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1072Apr 23, 2017 10:23 am Won't be long aloenyx. It still ends up being much cheaper living with your family. I wish I lived with my parents to save a whole lot more but they don't live here So we're in a rental and nearing the end of our build we pay more mortgage! Plus rent and living expenses with minimal savings. Use this experience as good practice for when you move into your home and you'll be responsible for all your own expenses. You'll be a super expert on budgeting that's for sure Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1073Apr 23, 2017 10:33 am It will be over soon dawn. Wish i have a family here where we could stay at the moment. I am about to be kickedbout of rental and still no keys from builder. All packed but nowhere to move in to... Its just I'm such a sap and I want them to be more involved, and have those picture perfect moments... and they just aren't interested. Anyways, I'm off to a nursery today to see what sort of plants I can find. The lilypillies I bought from Costco have kind of died on one side and look awful, so probably won't use them.. and the weeping maple, its okay.. but I don't know I want something with more pizazz.. On the other hand the frangapani look amazing, have grown so much. I can't wait to plant them. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! Too stressful! We will get there eventually Building Simonds Prague Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1076Apr 23, 2017 11:58 am Ughhh it's the same here. I get up at 5:45 for work and pretty much skulk around in the darkness and sneak out the door so I don't wake others up. Then I buy food for myself, go to eat it or make my lunch and it's gone I'm appreciative of the fact I'm living with family but I can hardly cope anymore. I have no time or space to myself and I'm finding myself spending most of my waking hours elsewhere so I don't have to go home. I just can't wait til I'm in my own place! I think some of the issues come because our parents still see us as kids; and I'm 28! Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1077Apr 23, 2017 3:44 pm Yup definitely think we are still kids. I mostly live in my bedroom.. and have for 3 years, its a tiny room too.. which I share with a bunny XD I can't wait to have a whole house.. I have a huge list of things I can't wait for.. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1078Apr 23, 2017 3:52 pm Will be amazing to have your own space. We lived with my in laws (and my husbands brother, partner and 2 year old) during our first build which luckily was only about 6 months but their house was 50sq so we had a lot of space to get away when we didn't want to deal with people. Made moving into our first house on our own amazing! Just think you're on the home stretch now! Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1079Apr 23, 2017 5:32 pm I can't wait. Can start living the type of life I want.. 3 weeks.. 3 weeks XD Never felt so long... Went to the nursery today. Their maples were pretty, but about 3x the price of the one I bought.. They didn't have as much range as I wanted.. and still couldn't find the trees I want. But got some ideas.. wondering if I should put more aussie natives into my garden.. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1080Apr 24, 2017 9:29 am So... totally thinking of changing my landscaping plans again!! I just can't find anything that I like... although I already bought a heap of plants. OPPS! I would love to do an Aussie type garden, but I'm not a massive fan of natives (though some are growing on me). It's just such a tiny space both front and back... and front will have a slight slope, though back will be flat. I was originally not going to do anything fancy, but now I'm thinking about raised garden beds out back.. And maybe a step level or something out the front... was actually thinking about not doing turf out the front anymore.. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15265 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17040 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11628 |
