Browse Forums Building A New House Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - Plumbing fit out - 6 wks to go! 1042Apr 18, 2017 7:03 pm [quote="aloenyx"]The little costs do add up quickly! I've been tracking all my costs, both house related and things I've bought like furniture, etc. I will do a full break down once its all done. Hehe, IKEA is fun. I'll need to go back to look at curtains again.. and probably some other stuff. Got another picture of my princess from the breeder, she won't be ready this weekend.. so either the one after, or the one after that. Can't wait!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not much else happening with the build. Will call the builder tomorrow for an update, hope something is happening.. so stressed about my mid May date. /quote] I'd be too scared to look at a costs list haha. There's always something else and then something else! Although I am heading to Ikea tomorrow for a few things lol Kitty is gorgeous (and I'm not a cat person... funny considering my name hahahaha) Silly public holidays slowing everything down for a few days but fingers crossed they get into it this week and you have an update soon 😀 Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - Plumbing fit out - 6 wks to go! 1043Apr 18, 2017 7:46 pm Kitty is so cute! You're lucky you don't have long to wait to bring her home. I've started a timer for my pup lol. And like you, I started keeping a spreadsheet of all my costs but it only has the major ones like Post handover stuff like driveway etc. I got Lazy and haven't updated in 6 mi the like landscaping, shutters, curtains, media Room equipment etc. Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast Viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - Plumbing fit out - 6 wks to go! 1044Apr 18, 2017 8:05 pm Yeah, I love the public holidays for time off work (went camping ) but hate it for house progress!! Thanks, I'm in love with her. I can't wait to bring her home and snuggle her... just wish I could bring her home to the new house!! My poor breeder was stalked for 2 years, before I finally said PLZ GIVE ME 1!! People have since advised me to tell her I'll get one later (due to house delays).. but they don't understand that she is my kitty, I made an emotional connection.. so come hell, rain or no house she's coming home with me. Mhm well I have two costs spreadsheets, one is 'house', so deposits and such, things I HAD to pay.. its at about $50,000+. The other one is tracking the move in stuff like furniture, landscaping, blinds, cat run, etc. I plan to do a big break down post on my blog after I move in, to help give people an idea of the 'true' building costs. I was so naive when this all started XD I thought I could get a turnkey 3 bedroom house for under $300k, and everything would be done.. then I learned that everything I wanted in my new house was an upgrade.. I think my total spend is going to be close to 100k all up.. which I would never have imagined when I started this journey (or thought I could ever afford.. thank gawd for the 2 year delay and a lot of promotions at work!! ). I still remember when I started looking, I had pre-approval for $310k.. so $155 house and $155 land was the plan. I laugh so much at past me.. So stressed about this stupid build. Im sooooo angry....and tired..3hrs sleep. They better have some good progress to report this week. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - Plumbing fit out - 6 wks to go! 1047Apr 19, 2017 5:46 pm I really want to start a 'how you know when you've been building too long thread' XD 1. Whenever someone on H1 posts 'Starting new build' or 'Looking for a builder' your first inclination is to post 'RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!' Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! Building can be stressful and the million after handover things just never stop playing on your mind! Hope you get some rest tonight x Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1049Apr 19, 2017 6:04 pm Thanks Kat. Called the builder today and left a message. Will try again. Struggling with life at the moment... so tired of waiting.. Realised today I have put on 20kg in the last 2 years.. I keep saying "when the house.." I will exercise, eat healthy, etc... but it never eventuates so I just keep putting on weight and eating worse.. *sigh* Its such a shame. I wanted to give my builder a good review but I can't. Given I told them I had a blog, was on H1 and had media links, I thought they might of treated me a bit better. I've been asked a few times to be part of another article, this time on 'poor building experiences' though, but I want to see where this ends up first. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1050Apr 19, 2017 6:07 pm L1es told to me by my builder (I was thinking about this walking to work today.. you can kind of see where my mind is at lately XD): - Build will take 6 months - Everything will be done and we will be ready to start building as soon as your land settles - We will have you do a walk through at pre-plaster stage so you can add noggins and such - We will have estate approval sorted before your land settles - You'll be in by end of March no worries - Your getting these taps, basins and toilets - Site costs will be fixed *sigh* Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! Wouldn't want them to see it and muck you around anymore! Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1053Apr 19, 2017 7:22 pm Exactly. Once everything is done I will do a review.... but it will be a fair.. I'm not going to bag them out. There have been somethings I liked.. I was trying to decide if I want to go visit the house this weekend, since we ave 4 days off. But decided to wait until next weekend when I meet with the blind people.. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1055Apr 20, 2017 6:48 pm So builder called me today. Update is that shower screens should go in next week, electrical fit out should be late next week and the strip footings for the front fence have either started or are starting next week (forget), external stuff will be kicking off soonish. In regards to move in date, confirmed we are still on schedule for mid May.. I will push for a date before the 15th next week when I do my weekly progress call. Didn't really find out if anything happened this week.. but last time they told me nothing had happened, and stone went in.. so hopefully stuff is happening. At least they called me back. I feel more comfortable about things when I'm in regular contact with them. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1056Apr 20, 2017 6:53 pm aloenyx So builder called me today. Can't be much left to do now 😀 Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go! So they better hurry 1057Apr 20, 2017 8:03 pm I think the to do list is: Internal Shower screens Mirrors Flyscreens Electrical Wardrobes Appliances Hot water Split system Carpets Defects/painting touch ups Door handles & door stops External Garage Door Front Fence Driveway Concrete I think that's all of it? So hopefully after next week a few more things can come off the list. I'm pretty sure I won't visit this week as I will be spending a bit of time at the house next weekend. After keys, there's window treatments, turf, back fence, side gate/front fence, paving, cat run.. then will be mostly done for a while. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 4 wks to go!
