Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Simonds Prague in QLD 233Apr 23, 2017 10:13 pm Cassie.f90 Horse I'm so sorry this has happened it's such a shame and it's absolutely not acceptable! I would be livid if this happened to my house. Sure there is something they can do to make it look a little more appealing That is what i will be asking Cassie or better yet do it again properly. Though for the latter i would like them to do it after handover. I have been reading about standards and bricks and articulation joints for the last few hours. Its now giving me headache. Too bad i cannot find anything re remedy or how to fix them. I found one article saying it is a problem as joints are seldom of the required width if done this way. I dont even know if certifier will accept their fix. They should have made me aware of this problem earlier so that i would have extended my lease for another 3 months. All they gave me is "next week" "in two weeks"... now i need to vacate rental without a house to move into. It is even bad for them to cut the bricks after I did PCI. It would have been included in the report. Sorry for the rant. I am just so angry, disappointed and stressed. Building Simonds Prague If its just the upper part they will have to take of all the bricks upto the ceiling and redo it. If they have to do it at the bottom then it must take an engineer to provide a fix as its playing with the structure of the house . They are known for this dirty tricks I'm not surprised Re: Building Simonds Prague in QLD 235Apr 23, 2017 10:21 pm sajidmib Horse Cassie.f90 Horse I'm so sorry this has happened it's such a shame and it's absolutely not acceptable! I don't see why those bricks couldn't be redone? There's really not that many. When my partner comes home I'm going to ask him what he thinks as he's a bricklayer by trade. And yes I think it should be done after handover but It would be worth getting it in writing that they will be fixing it within x amount of time after hand over to make sure it gets done. You've been very patient since pci. We used TaxiBox when we moved and couldn't recommend them highly enough. They delivered the units to our place, we filled them, they picked them up and then we arranged delivery So much better than lugging stuff offsite and making a million trips! Thanks megera. Would you know if they allow week by week arrangement? I asked national storage and they are ok for that kind of arrangement. But i do think taxi box is more convenient Building Simonds Prague Not off the top of my head but you could ring them. Might cost more than it would if you were doing a 6-12mo term. I think we had to pay a little extra because we only did 4 months instead of 6 like we thought. He said he would walk onto the site and knock out all those bricks and redo it himself. It's not a true expansion joint as it doesn't look like it's even cut through the bricks nor would it have expansion ties through the joint. It can definitely be redone but Unfortunately because the roof/ceiling is complete it's not exactly an easy fix. Let us know how you go after speaking to simonds. Good luck. Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building Simonds Prague in QLD 240Apr 25, 2017 7:10 pm Thanks Cassie. I have sent an email last Monday and was told she forwarded it to the Building manager. Unfortunately both him and SS were on leave last Monday so we'll see what they say tom. My main concerns now are: 1. Will cerifier accept what they did and issue the permit? 2. If they do, would Simonds man up and fix this after we move it.
