Browse Forums Windows & Doors 1 Jul 25, 2016 3:26 pm Hi Guys. We're in the middle of designing a new home, it'll be a custom build and have a question to spark some ideas.. The alfresco area hangs off the dining and is about 5m in width by 4.5 deep. I was wanting atleast 4m of opening to access this area so it looks integrated .. however i did a search and stegbar, wideline, trend .. all manufacturers have a maximum sliding stacker of 3.6m .. which means it'll lose another 1.2m for the fixed door .. How do i achieve this 4m opening? I've heard bi-folds are expensive .. any idea of the price comparison? I've also seen a display home where the fixed door of the slider stacker was actually concealed by building a wall around both sides, so all the doors stack inside .. is that like a custom design as well? Any ideas would be appreciated .. Thanks! --- I don't have a signature - just this sentence saying that I don't have one - that'll do! Re: Bi-fold vs slider-stacker concealed? options/price 2Jul 27, 2016 3:50 pm Bifolds about $1000/ linear metre 2.1m high. Stackers about half. They also can do cavity sliders, which would be expensive. which is the door concealed in the wall like you mentioned. Also are you looking at the door just opening from one side to the other or opening from the middle? We are having the 6.3 sliding door to our deck and chose this over bi fold as you can't have screen doors on bifolds. That is the ultimate limit on all continuous aluminium track doors, and other companies do the cavity slider (except me). Bifolds can take flyscreens, issues... very expensive, prone to collapse with wind, also prone to damage by kids and pets. Stacker is a very practical and economic alternative.
