Ditto. Given new house build I suspect I'll soon be on here (almost) as much as my wife is.

It's a z-wave enabled switchable privacy film which you can apply to any window. They haven't released it because supposedly, it's a pain to apply, and would be an expensive mistake if you didn't do it right. There are also other companies doing something similar There's one window in our house that can benefit from this, but last time I looked, I wouldn't be seeing much change from $1000 Re: Home Technology Hub 346Feb 04, 2017 8:29 pm Aussie141414 I have had the August Lock for about 2-3 months and it is great; going to remove it from my current house and put it in the new house when we move in a couple of weeks. Also over the weekend I bought the August Doorbell Cam ($149 US, down from $199) which I will install in the new house. As mentioned you can open the door lock from anywhere in the world if needed if you have the August Connect or Doorbell Cam linked to the lock. The lock didnt open once, but it was an app issue and I just reinstalled the app and all good again. Have you had this fitted to your door yet? I'd love to see a photo of how the chunky bit on the back looks?? I'm building and want to get this for the front door. Hi Jackyboy, No problem hooking up the August Lock as it just fits right onto the back of the deadbolt; no wires, just two metal clamps which secure it to the faceplate. The Doorbell cam I cant comment on at the moment as I havent gotten the keys to my new house. Will be installing once we move in which should be around early March. I had the wires installed during the build for the cam, which are just two doorbell wires for power. I cant see a problem installing the power to the cam on an already build house as it should be an external wall which should have a cavity to run the wires (double brick WA). May have to have a small transfromer to convert 240V down to the 12 or so V that is needed. Information is on their site for power requirements. If you already have a doorbell it should be a straight swap; but do check as you dont want to fry it or not have the correct V, Ohms, etc. Will take pics once I put it in. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
