There's a house over the road from where I'm living, it's 2 storey. First floor frame up in a day. Next day 2nd floor frames completed, next day roof trusses delivered and completed, 2 days later all windows installed. 2 days later and all roof tiling complete by 2 guys in 1 day. Your guys should definitely be working harder! Although progress is progress I love love love those pendant lights! I need them!! Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2704Apr 13, 2017 5:48 pm WTF!!!! Champion tradies - NOT! Better than nothing I suppose.... hope they can speed up a bit for you though! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2706Apr 13, 2017 7:57 pm Patience Charli Progress is progress.... If I am a tradie, I wouldn't bother travelling all the way to put up a few roof trusses.... I think they had a reason to do it and leave it like that... Enjoy the longgg weekend Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2707Apr 13, 2017 8:07 pm Oh I'm so excited to see these updates! Woohoo Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2708Apr 13, 2017 8:36 pm They would have spent a lot of time squaring up the walls and putting the top plate on (they have to do that before the trusses go up) Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2709Apr 14, 2017 10:48 am Glad to see that they are making some progress. I love all of the lights I am having a huge problem deciding on pendant lights coz there are so many beautiful designs. Maybe I should put them in all rooms - a different light for each room??? Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2710Apr 14, 2017 11:48 am Frames look awesome cb thought concussion may be after a punch up with GJ??? Hope you feel better soon Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2711Apr 14, 2017 2:41 pm Why would they order and deliver insulation now? And leave it sitting outside like that. I mean they won't even install it until the bricks are up and there is a long way before you reach that stage. Normally it's not delivered until your roof tiles are up so then it can sit in the garage and stay dry. Even in the plastic if there are any tears, rips or holes water will get in and cause mould which I wouldn't want in my insulation in my walls. Can you put it in the shed? Just so it's out of the weather? I wouldn't stress about the trusses, you find they would have spent the day squaring up, putting roof plates on - plus since they were delivered to early and not on the frame - they need to put each piece up with just 2 people normally onto the frame then install it. I know my frame looked like it was up quick - but they still spent a week there squaring up, putting up ply in certain areas and fixing up anything not right. From my photos it would look like they did nothing but sit around but they did do work it just hasn't got anything to really look at. When you think about it - this is the only thing holding your house up as roof tiles and bricks are just for looks and keeping out the weather - the bricks don't have any structure reason to the house - so you really do want them to take time with the frame and make sure its prefect before they start adding the pretty stuff. If the frame isn't right then the whole house won't be. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2712Apr 14, 2017 4:08 pm charlibear Drum roll pleaseeee This is what they've done in the way of roof trusses Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You think these guys would want to get paid right... Doesn't look like it helped though. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2714Apr 15, 2017 9:06 am Hello CB - Just stumbled across your thread, wow what a interesting read. We're a little behind you in construction so will be following your progress with interest Not sure I will read all 136 pages lol, but will at least catch up with the latest 10. I grew up on 10 acres and miss the space and freedom alot so its really nice to see a new build on a large block. Really like your designs too, good space utilisation and layout. Good luck with your build! Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2715Apr 15, 2017 7:27 pm ehhc Hello CB - Just stumbled across your thread, wow what a interesting read. Re: Charlibear's Build - Week 13 Roof Trusses Started 2718Apr 15, 2017 11:51 pm omg yay I see frames!! so exciting hun <3 I am pendant obsessed too haha putting 3 above my island and so far have picked one of these, we have a lot of cool based greys so I think I need to warm the house up with wood, there isn't much on the pendants obviously but will tie in with my bar stools and furniture.
