I vote for Jacarandas too. Our street trees are ugly! On the positive, at least we have some Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 252Mar 05, 2017 4:42 pm Hi All, Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth, one thing and another, and then the neighbours concretor caused all sorts of issues for my neighbour, and for us. That coil begins with him bringing too much material and dumping it on our block, and then finishing with refusal to take it away (he now has by roping in another ususpecting guy, and totally misleading him as to the amount of stuff he was removing. He told the guy, 'some blue gravel and about two tonne of clean fill. It was a big heap of gravel, and about 7 tonne of fill mixed with builder's rubble AND his own concreting rubble. More to that story too!), and also leaving splashes of concrete all over the windows, brickwork and downpipes (ruining her paint) and even on the CEILING of the ALFRESCO. It reminded me of the scene in 'Mary Reilly' where Julia Roberts says "There was blooood on the ceiling!" Feel free to private message me, if you want to know who this joker is so you can avoid him. The good news is, we are getting surveyed and re-pegged on Monday, courtesy of b@st@rd builders/fencers/conretors not giving a crap about other people's pegs. Then we should be getting the earthmovers in next week. Hoo-bl©©dy-ray. Saw that your windows have gone in, Marshall! Yay! Looking really nice, now. And Buildingnanna! Yours looks close to finished! Woohoo! I'm optimistic in a minor key, at the minute. How is everyone else going? Hope you're all top of the pops... Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 253Mar 05, 2017 5:38 pm Oh dear lord, that sounds like an absolute nightmare, I hope we don't go through anything like that, it's stressful enough! We have loads of blue gravel too but Simonds have said that will all be cleared. What a pain that you need re-pegging, was the steel peg gone too? Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 254Mar 05, 2017 10:50 pm We didn't have any steel, just wood, and little plastic squares - we would replace them, and return the next day to find them buried or scattered again. Wasn't a nightmare, just irritating. The rubble etc would only have been a nightmare if it hadn't gone by the time I surveyed, but in the finish, it was ok. It was a nightmare for my neighbour, though. Honestly, don't get that dude for your concrete. Builders and contractors are like babies - you can't blame them because 1. They don't know any better - not enough brainpower. 2. If they do know better, they receive some sort of infantile glee from being naughty. 3. There's no cure for stupid, so why bash your head on the wall. They, of course, know this, and rely on it. Like most infants, they are cunning enough, but always thinking of results, not consequences. Duh! 4. They'll get their just desserts somewhere along the line, and I console myself with a chuckle over it. It's only patently obvious that it's easier and more efficient to be nice, once you grow up. Some never do. 5. There are good trades out there who will, of course, float to the top like the cream. They'll make far more money for far less effort, than the toe rags do. Consoling thought. When are you guys likely to be finished? No-one's dead, so we're all good. At least having a survey that's independent from both the surveyors and the builders, means I'll never, ever have a boundary dispute. Yay! I'm quite pleased to be able to badmouth all the builders and trades that did it, and I know who they are... it will all be online in due course. As my builder said 'They have a care factor - it's ZERO'. At least wy builder knows that I'll be mighty displeased if they do it to my next neighbour along. Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 255Mar 05, 2017 11:22 pm Hey jaya I had so many issues with dirt piles and now have builder rubbish from next door. Not their fault just the way trades leave rubbish where they please. My place finished hope to get keys very soon yay Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 256Mar 06, 2017 8:34 pm Oh how exciting for you! Yay!!!!::cheerleader:: Now that I see properly, there were little steel bits attached to the plastic squares -they'd just been knocked off the top. Our surveyors did a great job today - Bleeze Neale - very impressed. And I'm glad I paid for a survey - I've got the report forever, then! Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 257Mar 07, 2017 9:11 pm We start TOMORROW! How cool is that. I can now have DELAYED removed from my prospective epitaph... I'm sure I'll be excited soon, but for now, mildly relieved. Put that on my memorial stone... 'Somewhat Relieved' By the way - that certain concretor - All Concrete Solutions. Re: New Building Seaford Meadows SA 260Mar 07, 2017 9:34 pm Yeah, hopefully we'll meet up around the place - that would be great. I'm actually a bit annoyed that I don't get to play in the mud. When my folks were owner builders, it was soooo hands on, ALL the time. It's a bit difficult to take a back seat - I wanna make mud pies and play with bobcats, tooooo!! Waaaahhhh!
