Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 883Aug 01, 2017 10:40 pm The weather has been pretty kind to us! The last couple of days have been spectacular, it doesn't feel like winter at all! Well maybe the ice on the rabbit hutch this morning was a bit of a hint The builder has been extremely lucky we've had so little rain. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 885Aug 02, 2017 10:12 am Yes but not as cute as yours! Two sisters, Ginny and Hermione, about three years old. They belong to my girls but one guess who takes care of them! They came from a friend who had a "desexed" female rescue bunny. They babysat a male bunny for a short time and a couple of months later they thought they were seeing things when they had little bundles of fluff running around the backyard! She had dug a burrow in their backyard and had 3 babies secretly. They had noticed she was eating a lot but otherwise no clue. She was happily getting locked back in her hutch at night, so she was only taking care of them in the daylight hours! The dark one is Ginny and light is Hermione, they're a lot lighter in the body over summer. Hopefully he'll finish today. The side of the garage had been done. I'm a bit concerned he took the offending straight bit of capping off, maybe shortened it a fraction then put it back . We still haven't been notified what is happening, our understanding was that we were waiting for information then we would make a decision. Good news is we haven't lost our chippy, he is still there doing beading for the eaves, and the frencham truck was delivering the new cladding ! I hope he starts on it today, trying not to get my hopes up too much. So gorgeous. I love their names. D They are beautiful colours, can't remember what those colours are called. Hehe, yeah we had bunnies growing up and my parents had to look after them, I didn't know much about bunnies then.. my new bunnies are so spoiled by comparison (kind of makes me feel bad about my old bunnies). Good news on the chippy!! D I can't believe they can't seem to solve this issue.. way too much hassle for you! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 891Aug 02, 2017 9:25 pm I seriously don't think they are even reading the plans at our place! It's like they threw them away and are making it up as they go 🤦♀️ 🤦♀️ 🤦♀️ https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 892Aug 02, 2017 9:34 pm Just catching up! I've missed so much You're bunnies are just too cute Great news on the chippy. I hope they sort the issue out asap! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 893Aug 03, 2017 7:03 am Good to see you have someone working on your place!! Who can you demand to speak to? Can you demand weekly updates? This is a bit ridiculous isn't it Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 894Aug 03, 2017 10:55 am So the roof I think is finally sealed up, woo hoo! But they have gone to town with flashing the pier and covered half our bricks: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Should look like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The rainhead on the back of the garage is crooked, seriously if you don't have a straight eye, use a level! The chippy looks like he has spent a huge amount of time lining the ceiling of the porch and it's wrong! They never put vertical battens behind the masterwall as per the drawings, so it's just hanging there. No idea how they plan to finish that off but if they had followed the plans the porch ceiling would sit low enough that they wouldn't have to. Also the frame that the masterwall is attached to was always loose (noted at last inspection) so it flapped about a bit and didn't sit straight. I assumed it would be fixed when they added the rest of the structure and the masterwall but apparently not, so now the whole front wall of the porch leans forward!!! With the bricks of the pier behind it's pretty obvious! And he hasn't followed the plans for the battening under the cladding, should be horizontals at max 900mm spacing, the verticals on top of those at max 450mm spacing for the design a clad to screw to. Hard to see in this pic but he has only done 2 horizontals, top and bottom, then attached the verticals in between rather than on top, only attaching them to the bottom edge of the top hat. We can only assume he is trying to save depth for some reason?? He's talking about maybe raising the kitchen overheads because they overhang the window frame slightly. Apparently it looks wrong to him. It looked good to me, I was happy we had an even amount of frame top and bottom. I'm glad he is open to changing things in the kitchen because the window is the least of the problems in there. I'm nervous already, he's going to need a stiff drink after I'm through my list! JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 896Aug 03, 2017 5:27 pm Did the cypress pine come pre-stained or has it already been stained? We have the same feature as you know and ours looks exactly the same as yours does now. Ours was meant to be stained in something called hynes rich cinnamon but we always thought it ended up a different colour. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 897Aug 03, 2017 7:11 pm Omg... do they even have a plan or are they just making it up as they go? 0_o. That's terrible. Good thing you have an inspector, because the issues just seem to keep happening. Hope they can turn it around soon. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 898Aug 03, 2017 7:43 pm Nico Did the cypress pine come pre-stained or has it already been stained? Ours was meant to be stained in something called hynes rich cinnamon but we always thought it ended up a different colour. No it doesn't come stained. From what I've seen on their builds I don't think they use anywhere near enough stain. Doesn't seem to change colour much no matter what you choose. The old display is a beautiful rich colour but they have changed stain brand since then. Used to be sikkens now the haymes uvex. We got our local paint shop to do a couple of haymes colours on some designer A clad samples, they said it's a 3 coat system so that's what they did and it came out rich like the display. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A little bit disappointed he wasn't more selective with where he put the pieces with the really blonde bits. There is only a handful of them. I would have put them at the bottom where only the neighbours in the two storey would ever see. He's only used a couple of the bits and one right at the top! The rest will likely end up on the front as there doesn't seem to be much excess. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: JG King modified Heywood - Kitchen 900Aug 03, 2017 8:03 pm charlibear Good to see you have someone working on your place!! Who can you demand to speak to? Can you demand weekly updates? This is a bit ridiculous isn't it We'll see how this walk through goes. I don't expect to get much opposition to most things, hard to argue when things clearly don't match the plans, but we'll see. We do have contact with the construction manager but he hasn't been much help because he is new to the company and not knowing the facade seems to be his get out jail free card. He seems sympathetic though. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
