I would love any thoughts or opinions We've narrowed it to 4, all have their compromises. Positives - it's the budget option only about $100 more than we have already spent, colour of this sample is good, we like the Matt finish. Negatives - some batches of this tile are browner and dirty looking. We've never seen it laid and worry that it might be too busy. Cretement Ash White 600 - About 2k extra which we feel is worth it for the bigger tile. Positives - Again colour/tone of this sample tile is good (probably our fav colour wise). Not rectified so can get a bigger tile for a reasonable price. We feel like the bigger tile might tone down the dark/light variations and repetitive patterning a bit. Negatives - It only comes in Wet look, we wanted Matt but this is only a subtle shine similar (but different) to lappato so we're considering it. Again colour varies wildly batch to batch. Portland Grigio 300x600 - This is the tile from the Finsbury display that we always loved and was our original inspiration. Positives - We've seen it laid and know that we would be happy with it. Matt finish. Negatives - Expensive about 4.5k extra. Only comes in this size if we're going to pay the large tile laying charges we would prefer it was a large square. The display has an old size 520x520 which is discontinued, if we could have got that last year we would have just done it and added it too the home loan. Axis White 600 - we've always liked this tile when we have seen it in displays. Positives - we know we love it laid. Have come to like the lappato finish. Negatives - Budget buster at about 5.5k extra. It is browner than the others and might require a paint colour change (works fine with kitchen). I think if it was up to my husband he would sign up for the Cretement 600 now, he is quite taken with it. I'm not as sure because I feel we have a 'good' sample tile and they vary. Also unsure about the finish but don't hate it. We are currently waiting on a couple of samples from the current biggest batch that is in the warehouse, in the hope that is where our tiles would come from. The only picture I have seen of it laid is from house rules, it looks nice but it could be completely different in the flesh. It looks very similar to the floor tile we've chosen New York Bronx 450x450.
I hope you come to a decision soon. On a better note - your bricks look great!!! Edit to add: I think the 450 in the matt look Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 718Jun 22, 2017 12:08 pm I would choose the cretement ash white 450mm, 600mm is nice but not not in a wet look, will look much nicer Matt Lexia Slim Twist with Beechwood Homes http://houseoflexia.blogspot.com.au/ https://www.instagram.com/natlyn7/ Re: JG King modified Heywood - Bricks started! 720Jun 22, 2017 2:46 pm OMG hubby just had a 20 minute conversation with our new/old SS! That's got to be longer than we got to speak with the previous guy all up! He sounds like a absolute gun! This is the guy who booked everything to lock-up by the end of May and said it would happen rain hail or shine and it sounds like he meant it! He can't believe the other guy came along and cancelled everything and that at times we've had weeks where there has only been a couple of hours work done! He said he aims to have someone on site everyday! I look forward to that . He is still trying to get his head around where everything is at with our job, it sounds like he wasn't thrilled with the communication from the other guy either so he is going to visit our site tomorrow to have a look for himself. Then he'll meet us onsite Monday so that we can run through all the issues that we know about and make sure everyone is on the same page and the correct drawings are being used. He also wanted to know everything that was outstanding from our previous inspection. He was adamant that our shower drain position has to be fixed, yay! The other guy tried to say that maybe the plumbers said it had to be where it is and he'd get back to us which of course he never did. Our inspector had already told him that it's not in that position on the plans so if they want it moved it has to be moved but I think that went in one ear and out the other. Most interesting he wanted to know how we found the other guy and lets say I don't think he was impressed . I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
