Our super week continues! Not sure what to expect for the rest of the week, could well be nothing, we've had more work done in the last 3 days than the previous 3 weeks so I think we've had our share! There's not a huge amount more to do before bricks, and no sign of any deliveries for that yet. The scaff will probably need to go before they can get much in there. We still have ext. doors and sliders framing waiting for a chippy and the electrician needs to rough in but SS did say that that would be done while they brick. That implies we're going bricks before plaster! The more we have thought about it the more we think surely they can't possibly go plaster first with the skillion. There's just no way to seal it up properly without cladding it. They have wrapped it which may be some sort of attempt, we have seen the same facade built before without wrapping up there. I'm not sure where the roofers are at, they did did a whole heap more flashing to the garage yesterday but I'm not sure if they have finished in the back corner. It's too hard to see from the street. The wrapping was flapping about back there as if they had undone it, however the fall protection is still there so maybe not. No word on the kitchen window size issue and still a couple of windows without glazing, so no fear of being locked out yet . Re: JG King modified Heywood - Roof! 649May 31, 2017 11:23 pm so it was suggested to us that they would leave "some" bricks at the end... has anyone else been told same? The SS had a big whinge to us about how people (like us obviously) ask for spare bricks and then complain later on that they don't want the bricks or there too many or they are in the wrong spot etc. Other builds around us had a spare full pallet or two. I'm sure in a photo at one point we had a spare pallet as well. It went missing in the end, whether stolen, thrown away or returned to Selkirk we won't know but the SS claimed they ran out and had "exactly" enough to do the job. The area manger backed this up saying their computer program estimates it exactly or something. Be interested to see how you guys go. They might estimate exactly but there will always be an allowance for duds and they don't sell exact numbers of bricks so there will always be at least part of a pallet. I think they think we were born yesterday sometimes. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Roof! 653Jun 01, 2017 11:53 am Yea I think my SS probably has a garden bed or letterbox at home in Selkirk Macedon wouldn't surprise me at all. Or they sent my spares to another site that was running short. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Roof! 654Jun 02, 2017 1:35 pm No action yesterday or today. At a guess we're waiting for roofers, I can see as I ride up the hill that there is still some capping and possibly flashing missing at the back of the garage.
After data guy and plumbers the wrap is like Swiss cheese. We're absolutely loving the facade now that it's wrapped, can't wait to see it without the scaff though. Last contact was when hubby called our SS 2 weeks ago, that left him cranky, frustrated and no more informed than he was before. We're just not sure what to expect. From what our admin has said to us in the past and from the way our last 2 SSs behaved we think we're supposed to get some sort of communication. This guy has never called us or responded to any text messages and clearly doesn't like talking when we do call or run into him. Our main concern is that we know that there is a growing list of issues (how many of them he knows about we have no idea, he has previously denied any problems which is clearly not the case) and we don’t know if they are being dealt with or if one day the next trade will show up and cover them up before they can be remedied. The concreters unfinished fixes have already been covered by the wrapping. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Wrapped! 658Jun 07, 2017 2:20 pm That's frustrating bank.... seems good SS's are in short supply! We don't want to get him offside, we know they have a shortage of SSs so we're probably stuck with him. I've been around and around in circles today. Do we call him again? Do we call our admin? Do we email admin (that could take way too long to get a response)? I've typed up a list of the issues/defects/questions, 15 items long, hubby said to leave it with him. I think he was thinking to call admin then email her the list so that they have it in writing. Some of the things we know they know about eg the kitchen window, so presumably they are dealing with them . Some of them are nothing to worry about yet, like dented fascia and gutter, I'm sure they won't want to deal with that until pci because it could happen again. However it did get put up like that so I feel the roofers should be held accountable. Then there are some, what the heck! I hope you don't think you're leaving it like that, items I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
