Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 470Mar 29, 2017 1:55 pm Slab pour is booked for tomorrow, not that we would know if we weren't chasing them to find out when our inspector can do his thing. So we're scrambling to get him there this arvo, supervisor isn't happy because he wants him there already, we're not happy because last we heard (yesterday) we were looking the pour at the end of the week possibly next week depending on how much rain we get tonight. argh! I guess I should be happy, slab tomorrow! Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 471Mar 29, 2017 2:37 pm Yay for slab tomorrow!! Who are you using for inspections? We found Darbecca were needing a good 1.5-2 weeks notice fir inspections so for future ones try and encourage sm to give you a good heads up! Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 472Mar 29, 2017 7:34 pm kylz4 Yay for slab tomorrow!! Who are you using for inspections? We found Darbecca were needing a good 1.5-2 weeks notice fir inspections so for future ones try and encourage sm to give you a good heads up! Plan was to use BE from here and he was available to come down this arvo but we needed confirmation that the setup was going to be complete or basically complete today because he is going away tomorrow (at this point we didn't know pour was tomorrow), by the time we did get hold of SS and found out that it was going to be ready because the trucks were booked for the morning, hubby unknown to me decided not to worry about it and that between me and his dad we would be right. When I found this out I hit the roof! I had surf coast trek training tonight until 7 so I've just come from checking the slab in the half dark. There are definitely issues (nothing that can't be rectified easily), so here's hoping the concreting dudes will listen to little me when I'm there at the crack of dawn tomorrow. SS said the building surveyor SHOULD be there today already, if he was he must have had his eyes closed or he's left them with a defect list to fix tomorrow. Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 475Mar 30, 2017 8:01 am We thought no slab today, we were the only ones there at 7, but we've just heard that we're second pour today, and SS will pass on our concerns about the issues we spotted. Hubby has just had some urgent stuff land in his lap at work so I'll be there on my own with one sick kid. Bad news is the frame isn't due to be delivered until the 12th . I thought for sure it would be up by Easter so I could show my parents.
Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 476Mar 30, 2017 8:04 am julia1301 Wow well arnt you glad you know what your looking at when it comes to slabs, I would have no idea. What are some of the faults you found? The stuff I picked up was the obvious stuff like no clearance between mesh and pipes (numerous spots), some sagging top mesh (they'll probably lift this up as they pour, but I'll be watching), no lagging on pipes (probably just not done yet, surely), few spots where the trench mesh clearance was a bit borderline, I didn't have time before dark to check every bit but noticed some while I was pulling out rubbish and stray scraps of waffle pods. Hubby checked that all the correct steel was where it should be while I was at training and checked most of the dimensions, no issues there. Of course all of this was done from outside the fence . Hubby's father who used to be a builder was there in the afternoon and spoke to the concretors, he didn't think there were any problems, but he seems to have confidence that all the trades will do the right thing , maybe that's how it was in his day Re: JG King modified Heywood - toilet dilemma 478Mar 30, 2017 9:22 am Looks like you have great weather for the pour I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 7845 |
