We have a start date & an SS. Site start is TOMORROW with a completion date of 23/4/17 (270 days). So excited... KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesdale) Great to hear your long awaited exciting news. I wish you the very best with the build and I'll keep my fingers crossed your SS is someone you can work in harmony with. Btw have you engaged a private building inspector on your behalf? Can't wait to follow yr build, and pics. All the best. Hi MezMaz. We've employed Darbecca to complete private inspections throughout the build. How did you go with the insurance & your maintenance issues? Did you get them fixed? KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesdale) Hi Rondy, Good to hear DFH has finally started on your build! Will be following with great interest and hope you have an enjoyable experience. Are you going to have a pre pour slab inspection? would highly recommend it! As for our maintence issues, we're not too worried at first as our issues were small and not urgent so our plans was to put a claim in with the builder's insurance shortly. As we had family visiting from interstate we decided to hold off until they left. Then, that decision was taken out of our hands very quickly, after 1 week of our visitors staying with us we found out that our shower in the bathroom was leaking! Basically every time the shower was being used, the water was running down the back of the plaster, under our skirting boards and pooling under neath our new bamboo floors! We will never forget Mother's Day! That's when we realised we had a problem! Long story short silkwood's plumber didn't put any plumber's tape on the flange where the shower head screws on so it wasn't sealed and this silly mistake allowed the shower to leak! Since we wanted the issue fixed the problem quickly, hubby & I decided to join RACV home assist that night so that same night a plumber came out to our house diagnosed the problem and sealed the flange. Normally if silkwood was is still around the problem would have been their issue to fix. As you know Silkwood are no longer around, so shower leak was fixed now the other issue was to fix the water damaged bamboo floors! Well, let me tell you, we initially, were so angry and cheesed off with the whole situation, it could have been all avoided if silkwood's plumber had done his job properly! So we were not looking forward to the headache of putting in a big claim now with builder's insurance as we were already told there was some major time wasting involved. So we called RACV to come out an assess the water damage floor boards and see what they could come up with? Initially we thought RACV wouldn't approve the shower leak,so we were just hoping to get a quote for the damages so we could present it to the builder's insurance, as part of their requirement in starting the ball rolling with them. But we were very lucky as RACV approved our damages, we decided to pay the $200 excess and all the repairs were completed within a few days! Yes we could have put a claim in with builder's insurance, but we had already heard about the BS that's involved to putting a claim thru. What a headache but luckily our damages were limited to the corridor running outside our bathroom. Also we were very lucky that particular shower wasn't being used on a daily basis. Phew! I guess We did what's best for us and we weren't prepared to wait around for months to get repairs done with the builder's insurance scheme. Good luck! Re: KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesd 147Aug 07, 2016 12:07 pm We have plumbing! Slab this week. They still have a bit if work to do first though as the waffle pods haven't been delivered yet. Have you made a choice? KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesdale) I am a little bit concerned. We went to see both houses again last weekend and the sales consultant we have been dealing with walked us through and explained all the inclusions etc. He told us he was on holidays for 2 weeks and that there was no rush to sign till he got back. I just had a quick look at the DFH site and all the inclusions etc have changed!! Argh!! Huge selling points and now there are a couple of other contenders back in play in terms of cost and value for money! I am hoping that he can work some magic and save me the trouble and we can proceed with the Mortlake. Had we known there was going to be a change, we would have secured with a deposit last week. BIG SIGH! Another week before he comes ho
Any news Lenz88? KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesdale)
Inclusions appear to be the same but the upgrade package has changed but it may work in our favor actually. Our biggest problem is now siting the house on our block. Our council has some silly rules and apparently we have to have a setback of 8m! and have to leave a gap of 5m between the back wall and fence!! That pretty much rules out majority of houses really! So ridiculous. It hasnt been submitted to council yet but they are planning rules according to the council site. Gah!! Other than that, its all hunky dory! LOL! Glad to see everyone's build getting going though! So exciting!! Re: KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesd 150Aug 12, 2016 1:13 pm Hey Rondy, how did the slab go? Did the building inspector come across anything major? Building with Dennis Family Homes Re: KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesd 151Aug 12, 2016 3:32 pm We have a slab! Only a couple of minor things were picked up at inspections. These were fixed on the spot. The house looked huge with the waffle pods, but now it looks small again. Any news on your permit rtforresters? Great news Lenz88. I'm glad you haven't missed out on anything. Monday will be 4 weeks for us and im getting rather impatient. They dont give you any updates or anything so have no idea why its taking so long. I am not very patient and I think the waiting will be my biggest challenge too! Rondy - yay on the slab!! We signed up today! Woohoo! So the process begins for us. Early days but still, we are on the way!! Yay! Re: KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesd 154Aug 14, 2016 6:23 am Congrats on signing Lenz88. It was exactly 6 months for us from signing estimate to site start. DFH have a very long admin phase, but our private inspector said they build a good house. We moved rentals Friday. To celebrate we ordered our new lounge for the family room. Nick Scali had a 50% off sale. Can't wait for it to be delivered in 8-10 weeks. We got rid of our old couches, so only have a sofa bed for us all to sit on.
Good thinking!! Silly question but is there a showroom for this kind of stuff? I have no idea! Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13437 Hello everyone, After some suggestions and ideas about how to put a concrete path around the drop edge beam area on our new build.
