Re: OB Shipping Container Build - After Some Guidance 9Aug 26, 2015 10:25 am Hi Rocksteady, Thats great you are considering building a shipping container house, in the last 2 years we have built a container home, we prefabbed it at home in Victoria for 12 months them relocated the containers to our block of land in southern NSW to be a holiday home. The container house has 3 bedrooms built homestead style with a huge verandah Not sure how much help I can be but it I can try, I found that looking at all styles of container houses was helpful to sort what we liked and didn't like etc. regards Tina [img]http://www.ourcontainerhouse.com/images/IMGP6537aa1.jpg[img] Re: OB Shipping Container Build - After Some Guidance 11Aug 26, 2015 5:12 pm Hi Waxinggibbous, thanks for looking at the website, shipping container homes sure are a lot of work aren't they... but sure worth it! Is the 'selfcontainered' blog yours? I will add some photos for sure, the redgum stairs took us about 2 days to make using a chainsaw but they were sure worth it. Re: OB Shipping Container Build - After Some Guidance 13Aug 27, 2015 12:42 pm Hi, WG - I found your blog when you had just started, good to see you are making progress, love the wombat photos. Here is a floor plan and pics, we started with 4 containers in a square and prefabbed them for 12 months at home, then separated them and relocated them to our block in NSW. The central area was them made into the living room after the roof went on. Here are a few of the many photos. The floorplan, the 4 containers - 2x20 foot and 2x40 foot in a square, internal framing for plasterboard. Re: OB Shipping Container Build - After Some Guidance 18Sep 24, 2015 8:22 am Hi Rocksteady, Thats great you are getting closer to getting some plans organised. Can't help you much with the plumbing/electrical. Our son is an electrician so that that made that job easier and cheaper. We knew the plumber well so we were able to install some of the plumbing and he checked it afterwards of course there was some plumbing he had to do, we were able to buy most of the parts making it cheaper for us. It is at plumber or electrician discretion or not if they let you run wires, pipes etc. They of course check it afterwards. I hope you get your plans on the way soon, regards Tina Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
