They just just finished the gyprock, and will start flushing it next week. So far I have personally found the following that I have had to raise with the Site Manager: 1. Brick infill not done above sliding doors . (still not fixed - waiting to find out what they are doing) 2. Incorrect insulation being put in walls . (fixed after I notified site manager they were installing wrong batts) 3. Electrical conduit in walls not installed (fixed after multiple requests - a couple hours before they gyprocked the walls) 4. Incorrect door size to master bedroom . (not raised with M yet - only noticed today) 5. Drop ceiling missing over ensuite bathtub (decided to leave without drop ceiling) 6. Downpipes not connected to stormwater and causing large water pooling (fixed after numerous requests) 7. Data cabling in roof breaching of ACMA rules (was not fixed before gyprock, they will need to climb up there to fix it!) How did everyone else's build go, and any suggestions on what other things I should be looking out for so that nothing gets missed? ACMA is the government body that is responsible for data cabling and sets the rules and regulations - https://www.acma.gov.au/Industry/Telco/ ... ling-rules The Australian standards for data cabling in homes is here - http://www.commsalliance.com.au/__data/ ... _2006r.pdf Re: Building with Metricon 5997Sep 03, 2017 1:31 pm What was actually wrong with the cabling? Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Building with Metricon 5999Sep 03, 2017 2:22 pm Renman What was actually wrong with the cabling? My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t A number of things, with the main concerns being: * data cabling run parallel to power cables, there needs to be a minimum of 50mm separation for parallel runs, they had about 5 - 10mm without any restraint from stopping them from actually touching (still not fixed) * data cabling wrapped around hot water pipes (still not fixed) * data cabling not supported or secured anywhere in ceiling space - cables basically just thrown anywhere across the ceiling timbers (semi-fixed now - not real great, but good enough) Basically it just was not a very professional job and not something I would expect from a licensed cabler. Even their first attempt to fix things after I told them I was not happy was a half-a**ed attempt, they just used electrical tape to hold the cat6 cable in place - not great using electrical tape but better than nothing I guess, but taping it around hot water pipes as well as the ceiling timber frame like they have done is not acceptable. In the end I have sent M a list of where the installation does not meet AS/CA S009:2013. Correct, they probably would not do much regarding a single complaint about a single installation, or even multiple complaints about the same cabler, but if there starts getting a lot of complaints logged against the same registered cabler/company for breaches of AS/CA S009:2013 they would start getting interested, even if it is a domestic premises.
