Browse Forums Home Theatre & Automation 1 Apr 21, 2015 2:05 am I have (had) a standard looking antenna wall plate which worked perfectly. I want to have my tv and fm hook into the antenna. I bought a Digitor splitter wall plate from D*** Smith and set it up. It says you are suppose to use a mounting block but I didn't. Initially I was able to receive everything bar SBS. I unscrewed it from the wall and jiggled it a bit and SBS came back. If I screw it back into the wall it will disappear again. Maybe the mounting block will help but I'd prefer to do with out as per my original set up. I've screwed it all up tight but I don't like the way its designed with the cable coming straight down forcing it to bend sharply to get it into the wall cavity. What are the better quality wall plates on the market? (not the threaded terminal types) Re: Quality antenna wall plate 2Apr 21, 2015 1:01 pm There's not much better screw/saddle type wall plates out there. I'd use a better connection behind the wall plate - F type screw connection to front PAL connector: http://www.radioparts.com.au/product/30853835/pr3835-pal-to-f-socket-wall-plate-pal-socket-to-%27f%27-socket-tv#.VTWtHJMkq2U And then add a 2 way splitter: http://www.altronics.com.au/p/l1303a-dynalink-pal-aerial-socket-splitter/ Bunnings even have a F-type crimping tool kit: http://www.bunnings.com.au/antsig-f-crimp-tool-kit_p4363218 Builder: Dennis Family Homes House: Hartley Facade: Provincial Suburb: Lyndhurst Moved in! http://cynash.blogspot.com Re: Quality antenna wall plate 3Apr 22, 2015 12:53 pm Asha1 There's not much better screw/saddle type wall plates out there. Get a new connection for the wall plate and get the splitter. This job has become a lot bigger than it should have. I ordered a splitter online that was wrong, got one off a mate that was no good, bought the D*** Smith wall plate which was a backward step and broke the screw on the original wall plate. Re: Quality antenna wall plate 4Apr 25, 2015 1:42 am F Type wall-plates are the best both front and rear, some brands are very bad and collapse and short internally though. If you go Clipsal then you know you are getting quality. Remember, your reception issue may not lie entirely at your wall-plate. I had the Clipsal and that was perfect but I broke a screw off when undoing it so I will have to get a new one. I will have to get myself up to speed on the F type connectors. I expect I'll be getting new cables to fit. Are there any suggestions on what to get? They are probably very common but I've had enough of buying what ever the going thing is and then having it not deliver, a la the Digitor wall plate. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Brilliant - thanks so much for that. I didn't want to start pulling too hard on it if there was some other way it was attached, but yep, it was just the paint sticking it… 2 2273 Thank you again Simeon..
