I'm wanting to push the house up against one boundary and want the tank there as well. It means I need a slim tank. Yeah just ask... we were going to get a smaller, slimline tank, then changed the location. No price benefit for a smaller thank. Re: Mojo Homes 704Dec 21, 2016 7:36 am Anyone called to mojo home reception number last two days?? It says Optus advice this number disconnected Re: Mojo Homes 707Dec 29, 2016 8:30 pm ja-mez Guys have my electrical tomorrow Any1 done electrical have any tips or insight. In hindsight would you change anything? Wow that was quick. Good luck. I havent done mine so no input. Someone put a forum link a few pages back thatbhas everything amd anything to do with electrical. Havent gone through it so cany give a summary Re: Mojo Homes 709Dec 30, 2016 4:32 pm Congrats Shams!! Electrical completed today Fyi in an Enigma 41 +3 there are some 100 downlights in the entire house. Prob could knock 5 off if you deleted a few. Went way over board with power and lighting. Having had underprovisioned houses in the past, we were not going to say damn wish we had a powerpoint there. 3 extra circuits for light. 100+ lights 3 extra circuits for power. 101+ power points All in all happy with the inclusions and the credits for baton lights. Only comment i can say is they should have provisioning for security cameras. So if you intend to put security up then have a think about location and what it needs to run. Only thing i didnt look into! Re: Mojo Homes 710Jan 03, 2017 3:42 pm shams Guys we have reached lockup! We have reached lock up also Re: Mojo Homes 711Jan 05, 2017 6:35 am just wondering if anyone has hit rock on their site, and what the extra costs were architect, blogger at homedesignedge.com, Spacesave.co and author of Guide to Planning and Building a Home on a Budget Re: Mojo Homes 712Jan 05, 2017 11:06 am ja-mez Only comment i can say is they should have provisioning for security cameras. I have a rise in the corner of the bedroom above the study, so this will be my cable route, if I dont run in the external wall cavity. Depending on where the cameras will be located, power can be sourced from a GPO nearby. Depending on where the cameras will be located, power can be sourced from a GPO nearby. The best thing for cameras is just to run CAT cables. IP cameras can then be powered by ethernet as well, meaning you only need to run one cable instead of having cables for power/video/audio. Re: Mojo Homes 716Jan 05, 2017 11:27 am ja-mez Guys have my electrical tomorrow Any1 done electrical have any tips or insight. In hindsight would you change anything? I know this is a bit late as youve completed your electrical, but I will add my 2 cents for future queries. I'm a sparky and data cabler. You can never have enough power points! Some people will leave one power point per room, and then push a bed up against it. Next thing you try to vacuum and you don't have a power point handy. What we did was upstairs, put one power point on one internal wall, and I can add an additional power point on the same wall in the next room (hope that makes sense) after we move in, giving us an additional power point in the second room. Since we have three rooms across the back of the house, we have paid for one extra, that will enable me to add two more later. You can add power points upstairs relatively easily, but downstairs is nigh on impossible. All we can do is punch through a wall and put a power point back to back to an existing point. Think about vacuum power points, Christmas trees, phone charge points. As for lights, same deal. Lights upstairs can be done easily. Lights downstairs, not so much. If cost is a consideration, the builder charges pretty much what it will cost for a sparky to come out after the house is built. It does seem like the builder is charging a premium, but there are issues with a sparky doing the work afterwards. I have seen issues where all the after build add ons start to overload the circuit. Whereas the builder supplied points will be included in the maximum demand calculations and there shouldnt be a problem with overloading. When it comes to Data, people think cable is not required thanks to WiFi. Not completely true. Depending on the WiFi equipment, there could be too much traffic on the WiFi slowing things down. The range of the WiFi router/AP might not cover the whole house. I have had a smart wired house, and now I'm renting, I hate not being connected via cables. Again, put whatever cables you need downstairs. Keep in mind you can always use small network switches. So at a TV location, one cable and a network switch will do the Smart TV, PS4/XBOX media server, whatever. Security cameras is a little different. I have run security cameras, but my experience is limited and I woudlnt want to mislead people. As much as I hated it, I have paid about 15k in electrical. I can do the work for a fraction of the cost myself, but as the house is two storey, I need to done during the build. I also paid for lighting points so I can install my own decorative lights after we move in. This includes outside as well. Re: Mojo Homes 717Jan 05, 2017 11:33 am Exactly the same Each bedroom has 2 points internal wall and external wall. I put power everywhere. Went overboard. Main bed 3 points plus tv. And 3way light switch for main lights. Fyi i have a cordless dyson V6 and V8 animal. I never pull my corded vac out. I mean never!! We have power in downstairs broom and upstairs linen. For the vacs to charge. We spent a fraction over 15. But as you i didnt want to underprovision.. Cat6 to all entertainment and study areas. And 2 wap points. Wireless access points are much better than the wifi off your router. So hopefully all my wifi congestion is portable devices only! As for the ease of terminating Cat5 versus Cat6, admittedly, I havent been on the tools for a few years, but I made a fair bit of coin testing installations, making repairs and certifying to Cat6 or Cat5. It was easier to pass Cat5 even with average terminations, than Cat6. i would need to be spot on with my Cat6, matching the cable to the jacks, so there was no difference in the copper causing reflection points and so on. But that was 5 years ago. I wish they had an option to run the cable and leave the termination for after the build! I use a triband router configured as an AP so I can separate the slower WiFi devices from the faster ones. But cable to each tv for media streaming. Re: Mojo Homes 720Jan 05, 2017 11:43 am shams Our build has been pretty smooth, starting end of Aug and now our walls have been installed and we'll be locked up by Chrissy. We are on track for a Feb/March completion 6-7 months from start to finish, double story btw. Thats excellent! My single story I built years ago took that long.
