Also, I feel like I have so many questions!! But is anyone going external for the driveway and porch/fence? And if so who did you go through, did you save a lot of money? My partner and I have decided to do all of the following privately: Front Driveway Alfresco Slab All Fencing All landscaping Total Cost from Builder ~$15000 Total cost to do it all privately ~$8000 (Upper end of the scale) As you can see the savings are immense... We are also supplying and paying our electrician to do a whole bunch of work privately for us. Thats really cheap for getting all that done are they small areas or do you know people No just going around and getting private quotes and shopping around . Driveway was quoted at $3.5-4k ( Exposed aggregate so we could go even cheaper) Fencing was quoted at around $5000 but this gets split between 3 people so only around $1700 per party Alfresco slab was very cheap at only around $1200 As for turn we are laying it all ourself and the turn won't cost much considering we are only turfing the front and a small amount of the back. So yea around the 8-10k mark really but still a significant saving when every dollar counts. Get on websites like hi pages where you put in a job description and heaps of tradies get in touch for quotes and offering their service. Amazing way to quickly get the best deal possible. Just my 2 cents though Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8817Jun 21, 2017 3:43 pm breebarter Wow so expensive!! Thanks guys for the update. Also, I feel like I have so many questions!! But is anyone going external for the driveway and porch/fence? And if so who did you go through, did you save a lot of money? To me the extra cost of insulation was worth it. We paid for roof sarking and insulation in the walls on out last house we built and the house was nice and cool in summer and warm in winter. We are renting a house at the moment where there is no insulation and we are freezing this winter. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion. Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8819Jun 21, 2017 6:50 pm Thanks so much guys, we decided to go with the extra wall insulation and the sarking. So hopefully it's worth it in the end!! We have also taken out our driveway and will do the driveway/fencing/landscaping ourselves. Has anyone upgraded the following items: - bigger shower head - niche in shower - undermount sink - glass splash back And any prices? Cheers Re: Coral Homes general build thread 8820Jun 21, 2017 6:52 pm breebarter Thanks so much guys, we decided to go with the extra wall insulation and the sarking. Cheers Our undermount sink was about $480 You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14099 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13769 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4335 |
