Browse Forums Building A New House Re: J & M's HGWA build Need your opinions please! 41Jun 08, 2015 7:36 am Love your plan!! If it were me I'd prefer the nib walls just to get more natural light into the ensuite. You would lose your recess in the shower but you would have a half wall to put bottles on instead in its place. Your shower is the same layout as ours and we have a long recess on the long wall in the shower which is fabulous!! If you can't get the nib walls it will look quite classy but think about your lighting. Re: J & M's HGWA build Need your opinions please! 42Jun 08, 2015 3:47 pm Thanks Kat for you opinion, they will still do a recess in the nib wall for me. I know it's lower than you would normally have a recess tho. I love the full length ones you mention but would prefer the bottles etc to be hidden Re: J & M's HGWA build Need your opinions please! 44Jun 09, 2015 9:36 am Hi i would personally have the walls to the ceiling you could then put some fancy lights above your mirror. Would you be able to watch the tv through the mirror if it was on the other wall lol. Hope you get it sorted Re: J & M's HGWA build Need your opinions please! 45Jun 09, 2015 9:56 pm I think the full height walls make the vanity look built in which in my mind looks more polished (and posh!) Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 47Jun 10, 2015 6:24 pm Has anyone building with HGWA had to use shower grates in their bathrooms? We are having 300 by 600 tiles on the floor and have been advised we need grates. Got some pricing sent to us today as we have prestart DAY 2 tomorrow..... Yes that's right DAY 2! we have two prices for the ensuite as one is for the shower recess and the other for the ensuite floor waste. It says ~ provide urban series stainless steel grates 75mm wide base channel and polished top grate in lieu of standard chrome waste $760 and $2000 for the shower recess!!!!!! That's a lot of money for grates Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 48Jun 10, 2015 6:25 pm Grates on their own are around $350 from memory, $2000 is a major mark up Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 49Jun 10, 2015 6:41 pm We had one quoted but didn't go for it; "Provide Bermuda channel grate to shower recess (off set from wall) in lieu of Bermuda tile insert 80mm square floor waste" for $680 Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 51Jun 10, 2015 8:41 pm Hey guys just got my final docs. Do you have cold water plumbing to the fridge area and if so how high does it sit they have put on my plans 1900 high but then I think u will see it? Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 52Jun 10, 2015 9:33 pm archetto Grates on their own are around $350 from memory, $2000 is a major mark up Yeah I agree $2000 seems excessive! quote="kellie_87"]We had one quoted but didn't go for it; "Provide Bermuda channel grate to shower recess (off set from wall) in lieu of Bermuda tile insert 80mm square floor waste" for $680[/quote] Thanks Kellie I'm going to be questioning it all tomorrow Natalie92 I'm not to sure what the grates look like do u have s picture? I am having intergrated wastes x4 are they the same? hi Nat, no I don't have pics, they emailed me today our costings so far and the grates were priced in there. When we did prestart last week we were told cos our tiles are 300 by 600 on the floor we would have to have them but I didn't expect this sort of cost! we are also having the integrated in the other wet areas and toilets. Natalie92 Hey guys just got my final docs. Do you have cold water plumbing to the fridge area and if so how high does it sit they have put on my plans 1900 high but then I think u will see it? Our tap is at 1900 too. Our fridge recess was only at 1800 high but they have changed it to 1850 high cos a fridge we seen the other day was 1819mm high. The prestart lady said they have been having issues with the standard 1800 high recess as new fridges these days are higher. Your 1900mm high tap should be hidden by your overhead cupboards?! That's a lot of money for grates From my ex[erience you may need a grate due to tile size, but its not the grate that is expensive its the reflux valve needed. 300x600 tile sounds like the tiler would not be able to cut the tile as such to get the water to flow to drain to the middle. We had same issue with 600x600 so we asked HGWA to use 300x300 in shower recess only. Hope this helps Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 55Jun 10, 2015 10:43 pm Also can anyone tell me what would be best. In the bathroom and ensuite the exhaust fans are unflumed and then the toilets are both flumed exhaust fans. Is this the correct way around or should the bathrooms be flumed and toilets unflumed? That's a lot of money for grates Can you supply your own? We bought the small square tile insert drains for around $50 each from regal plumbtec in malaga. Guessing they have the long drains too or even buy online? http://www.drainsonline.com.au/ Hopefully they have a more reasonable and cheaper solution for u! That's a lot of money for grates Pinkjam if your tiles are that size on the floor you will need the grates. We have 300 x 300 and probably should have been advised we needed them - especially in our walk in hobless ensuite shower. To get the fall was a nightmare and in the end we compromised and now have a small 10mm step down into the shower. Whilst it is barely noticable now we are in if i had my time again i would go the grate drain. Re: J & M's HGWA build shower grate costs 59Jun 11, 2015 9:30 pm Pre start DAY 2 is over! another full day 9:30-5pm..... I don't know how it's done in one day! Glad to say the $2000 was a mistake and we only have to pay $760 for the grate. Now I'm just hoping the costing come in under $20000!!!! Although I'm scared they won't.
