Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Sep 24, 2014 3:38 pm I've just appointed a house restumping company to slide and raise a house on my block of land, so that the block can be subdivided into two lots. I have today received the contract to sign and the builder has entered the building days into the contract. In our conversations prior, and the itemised quote, the job will take one day to raise the house and then 3 days to slide and fix the new posts. For the contract building period, he has stated 60 days. He has included 20 days for inclement weather, 15 days for weekends, public holidays, RDOs, and 13 days for any other matter likely to delay. He has then added incalculable days for the disconnection of services prior to the house slide occuring. Is this insane or am I reading too much into this? I'm fine with the incalculable days as Energex can be unpredictable, but allowing 60 days for essentially a 4 day job over a 2 week period seems like way too much. I'm nervous about signing the contract as he then has the right to sit back and do nothing for two months without penalty.
