We have seen custom builds with no sign of any bumps anywhere), uneven paint work and patch jobs in places. I'm also not convinced that our house has been painted in 3 coats as the colour is uneven in parts, but we can't argue the point as we weren't there to see the work being done, neither was our SS for that matter, so he has to go by what the painter says. But that's what happens when you have a SS who is also responsible for 30 or so other builds. They can't oversee everything. Hey msjovi just a tip, when your maintenance period is over you can get all of those fixed, every single small thing, note it on the email you send to W, nothing is too small to note down. Don't feel bad about it. If the paint is bad enough, you can get whole walls painted again, there should be heaps of leftover from construction underneath your staircase. We had the same uneven bumps in bits of our ceiling and you could only see it at night time when the lights are on so I never picked it up on the PCI. The good thing about the maintenance period is that it isn't done by Wisdom, they get a 3rd party house inspector to come in who brings his own tilers, painters etc and they're literally looking to do as much as they can. Like you I didn't have a perfect house at handover but after maintenance defect period it did get made pretty much 'perfect' which is why I'm happier about W than at PCI. That is so good to know! I thought they bring the same tradies back and we really weren't happy with the painters we got so this is good news! Just remind me again.. I have until the 3 month mark to send back the email with defects, right? Or does everything need to be fixed within the 3 months? How long does it generally take for them to organise the 3rd party trades once you sent back the list? Building Ambassador 41 - Wisdom Homes There's a 'Maintenance Team Leader' (her initials are TS) who will send you an email when your 13 weeks are close to being up, you'll reply with a list of everything you want fixed and they send the inspector out a couple of weeks after to agree/disagree on the items. I didn't get a single disagree, it was all 'yep that's rubbish, it should be fixed, this doesn't look right, it should be fixed etc etc, is there anything else you feel I should look at?' Then he comes back 4 weeks later with his tradies to fix everything. That's what cemented my opinion of W in the end. You had a company who had taken all my money already at PCI, however, still spared no expense to fix what needed to be fixed 3-4 months down the track. Try that with other companies...[/quote] If that's the case then it changes everything for us!! You have just made me feel so much better about the whole thing! There are still so many paint touch ups needed (you can see the bare gyprock all around our staircase podium) and lots of plaster bumps in ceilings. We thought we would have to patch these up ourselves! Time to go and make that list!! Building Ambassador 41 - Wisdom Homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7488Sep 18, 2017 4:55 pm Jordann It has gone all quiet on our site, nothing was done last week and still no words from the new SS, so no idea if anything is happening this week. Knew our progress was too good to be true.. In other news, have recently purchased a Samsung Gear 360 camera to play with. Here's the test video walk through of our house. fyi - you can click and drag on the video to move the camera around.. Hmmm, hopefully the build begins to progress again. I would certainly ask your CSR if they know what is happening, as you have heard nothing.....Its hard waiting without knowing what is scheduled to happen. Its certainly gone quite on ours as well since PCI. I'm guessing its hard for the SS to get tradies back to fix/touch up areas as they probably don't get paid for that. Handover supposed to be next week, but there is still a fair bit to do before that happens... hoping to see some activity very soon. Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7489Sep 18, 2017 5:08 pm VandM ozmonkeyoy VandM Finally have handover tomorrow! Two years on and we will be in our new home....it feels very surreal! This our driveway also went in, we went through Wisdom. We are happy except for the council crossover! It is an oversight on our part as we didn't realise that this would be plain colour concrete. I am not sure that there is anything we could have done to get it coloured but it is too late now. Just a heads up for anyone getting their driveway done through the builder as you have to get it approved by council. None of the driveways in our street have it as we are in an older suburb, however, in the suburb I currently live (Jordan Springs), every house has a path and the plain colour crossover. So not sure how it all works. The landscaper said that we can get it colour matched and painted and we shouldn't see the difference. We will get that done once the lawns and landscaping is in. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Sorry you posted as I posted.... Ha Ha just saw that! Credit to our SS, there was a flurry of activity at our place this week and there was a Wisdom van there again today. Not sure if the driveway was worrying him, there are some things that he said still need to be done (I would say it is stuff like a chip we have on one of the kitchen cabinets and some outside stuff). My partner is going through the final inspection in the morning and unfortunately I can't be there (I'm a teacher so can get minimal time off work) so we will find out then! Driving into the office to pick up the keys in the afternoon! Congratulations VandM .!! Have a great stay Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7490Sep 18, 2017 5:30 pm Msllamas ur house looks amazing. The landscaping and decking is awesome. Congrats and good luck with the birth. My wife is also due in Jan . Does anyone here have a photo of their staircase in Tasmanian oak with the stained option selected? Also if it's stained with 2 coats that would be great as well. I just got my staircase quote back and there's stain and clear finish option Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7491Sep 18, 2017 5:51 pm BuildingMightBeFun So I just received our HBA and they are asking for 10% upon signing, whereas I was under the assumption it was 5%? Anyone else had this? No, but what are your other progress payments? They must have lowered another one which might work out better for borrowing purposes as W's payment schedule is very front loaded as it is! I feel like you definitely need to stain it. The clear option looks really unfinished in my opinion We stained in black Japan but here's some pics to give you an Idea.. Original stairs - no stain - would stay this colour with a clear gloss. Vs black Japan stain (I think this was 3 coats, as I complained on what was originally done so they did another coat) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building Majestic 40 - wisdom homes Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7493Sep 18, 2017 7:51 pm doosra Msllamas ur house looks amazing. I'll likely just go with 2 coats and settle with whatever it is. Cost is getting out of control lol Re: Building with Wisdom Homes 7498Sep 18, 2017 10:56 pm MandM+4 BuildingMightBeFun So I just received our HBA and they are asking for 10% upon signing, whereas I was under the assumption it was 5%?
