Along with many others, I know also the terrible feeling when a good day is ruined by finding some delightful member of society has broken into your car or just vandalised it. I know a tradesperson who never locks his work van, figuring that it will always cost him more to repair damage to the car if they break in than he will lose from stolen tools. I'm not sure if that is a solution.
PS For those following the thread, as I am, taking note of what to do when final inspection occurs, you can buy, for a few dollars, from places like Jaycar, a little device, about the size of a night light, that you plug into power points which lights up to indicate if active and neutral are swapped, if the earth isn't present and so on. A necessity if you move into a rental property or buy a house where some jack-of-all-trades might have been tempted to do some home wiring.
