Curing is exactly the word. It's an exothermic reaction (gives off heat) if the air is too warm the heat doesn't get conducted/convected away quickly enough which can lead to cracking. So long as it's in the 20's you'll be fine. You may get some superficial cracking but it shouldn't be too serious. We've got superficial cracking in our slab and ours was poured in almost ideal conditions - cool and a bit damp. Re: Ben Trager Homes - Banksia Grove - Slab Booked! 105Oct 10, 2014 7:36 pm Thanks owf. So I don't really need to worry unless the temp goes above that? What's the best time to water? I hope its not early morning! If it was being poured in summer it's more important to cool the slab. If you want water it, do it in the warmest part of the day but, if you can't, giving it a little spray later in the day will help. Re: Ben Trager Homes - Banksia Grove - Slab Booked! 109Oct 10, 2014 10:58 pm Btw, we've been told 45-50 weeks fm slab to keys, including 6-8 weeks for bricks to start. At least they're not telling us 30 weeks. 12 mths it is.
