Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 2Mar 28, 2014 10:12 am I like the layout to the left best! Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 3Mar 28, 2014 10:46 am Just to be difficult I'm gonna vote for the layout on the right as there's not as much "dead space" over near the window and I would be concerned about the lack of floor space between the bath and vanity in the layout on the left. If you are that concerned about privacy in the toilet why don't you put a door (maybe a sliding one) across from the wall you already have there? With respect to the issue of the shower door - I wouldn't be too concerned because you only open it to get in/out (thus it's not usually going to be in the way!) Finally, to answer the question in your subject line; I have my bath directly under a window and think it's just fine there. You may want to get some obscure glazing though (which I like for bathrooms anyway). Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 4Mar 28, 2014 11:17 am Like the layout in the right best. Bath is a bang in the middle when you walk in your bathroom, which I like, this is assuming you want to draw the attention to your bath. And as mentioned before not so much dead space. Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 5Mar 28, 2014 11:25 am The left side I think has a better flow and looks more modern <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 6Mar 28, 2014 2:42 pm I like the one on the right. I think it'd feel a lot bigger. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 7Apr 07, 2014 9:59 pm The layout on the left is my preference but i would put toilet where shower is and shower at the window end. Leave the seat in the same position but the wall between bath and shower change to glass and exit the shower down towards the window side. Just run a grate style drain parallel behind bath down to window wall. Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 8Apr 08, 2014 11:40 pm Thanks everyone for your opinions. Seems rather split! splashers - i was thinking the same thing. Moving the shower closer to the window - perhaps more room for a towel rail on that side as well. But would it look odd to have half glass and half tiled wall behind the bath?? Or maybe use frosted glass for shower and toilet wall?? There's 1.0 m between the bathtub and bench atm, would this be a 'comfortable' minimum? or maybe 1.3 m? like the space between the island and bench in a kitchen (for two users).. Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 9Apr 09, 2014 2:07 pm Just to add to your confusion I like the bath under the window. you're not to see toilet where it is there and I like the open space and I have always wanted a bath with a view Intend to do this on my build but will be ground floor with garden outside window. I think both designs are good and I'm sure you will end up happy with your chosen one. Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 13Apr 25, 2014 12:50 am I don't think 1m is enough space, even though I love the design. The toilet doesn't need a nib wall as the entrance door will hide the toilet most of the time. I've had a bath under a Window and had no problem with cleaning! Left option..... bath on blade wall / nib wall.... ignore sink position, the program only allows placement of set objects. I've since been able to widen the bathroom to 3.7 m instead of 3.5 m. 1.1 m between bath and vanity. 7 cm bath off wall. 80 cm wide bath. 1.1m wide shower. Just curious....! I'm struggling to decide which one.... Re: Master bathroom layout: Bath under window or not? 18May 05, 2014 12:23 am Yes, I think it loos more modern. Also with the under window option I don't think it looks as nice as while it's centred under the window it's not centred on the wall... Also the bath may bet wet when you shower with the under window option, which might make it look dirty ? And there seems to be plenty of room between bath and basin based on your drawings. You must have a freestanding bath though! And enough free room around it for easy cleaning.
