Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Front water tap too close to future driveway 9May 07, 2008 3:26 pm Ring your water company (can only advise if its Melb) and they will send you a form to lodge and then you pay them about $250 (maybe a little more) to move it for you. A plumber can also do it...maybe get a quote to see what's cheaper.
I wouldn't miss around moving it yourself unless you know what you are doing. Re: Front water tap too close to future driveway 10May 07, 2008 9:50 pm vanderlay mattwalker We put in a (richmond?) cover in the driveway ] I think it's called a "fitzroy" box!! Yes, they are called Fitzroy covers. We're doing the same. The driveway will miss the water meter & tap by about 1/2 a metre, but Mrs is worried about running over it (fancy that? ) so the water meter will be buried and a replacement tap attached to the house instead. Re: Front water tap too close to future driveway 11May 07, 2008 10:15 pm awallace Hey guys We are about to receive handover on our new home, and in the process of organizing a concrete driveway. However the location of the front water tap & meter is way too close to the driveway, and needs to be moved. The tap will only need to be moved by approx 1m, away from the driveway. (And to ensure the pipe is at the required 600mm below ground level) Has anyone moved their front water tap? Whats the average cost? Can anyone recommend a good plumber, in the west of melbourne, derrimut or nearby. Thanks Look forward to your replies. This seems to happen quite often. And I'm told it's because when the people put the water meter and front tap in they just put it right smack bang in the middle of the property. We have this issue, too, and we have spoken to our local water people (cit y west water) and they have advised us that any qualified plumber can relocate the tap/meter. At your cost obviously. We have also been told you can only move it either side by about 60cm and no further away from the front boundary of your property. Any further either side and you will first need to get a permit. We got two quotes - one for $550 and another for $600. Didn't bother with a third and we decided it was fine where it is. Having said all that (and if it's not too late) ask your builder to move it for you. We somehow neglected our tap/meter location until it was too late. The house distracted us! Hehe [sneakersss] that will depend on the kitchen bench depth. you'll have to specify it so it allows for both the tap and the sink 1 7379 Can a plumber put a tap on a rain water tank which is full? Tank is similar to one in photo. Cheers. 0 1664 Scientists have used random matrix theory to demonstrate theoretically that the neutrino mass hierarchy can be explained mathematically.
