Fair enough if you were going to try rendering a feature wall in the backyard but your front facade...??? You can pick ******* render a mile off - it looks lumpy in sunlight. It's so maintence free and IMO, looks better. Depending on the product, the render should hold together for hairline crack as it is somewhat flexible, but bigger cracks will stand out and are very hard to patch without redoing the whole wall. Not that a new house should get any cracks this big. I would plan to paint it every 10yrs.
In saying this, I've rendered my house, but its a 30yr old house with grey besser bricks, so I see it as an improvement.
