They did an ok job but I'd recommend the guys that did our theatre and lounge room. Has anyone had a third coat of paint put in their internal walls or can advise me if it's worth it? Our painter said he will do a third coat on all our internal walls for $800 which includes the paint - it sounds like a good idea but is it worth a third coat? Any advice ASAP will be appreciated! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13065Jan 12, 2017 6:35 am We only had the 2 coats, and are quite happy with the finish. That being said, I think there have been others on here that haven't been happy with only 2 coats, so I suppose it depends on the painters and how well they have done the first 2 coats. Can you have a look at how it looks with the 2 coats before you make a decision? $800 is probably good value, if it needs to be done, but $800 will also go a long way in plants for the garden, or curtains, blinds, whatever, so don't spend it on paint if 2 coats looks fine! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13068Jan 12, 2017 3:04 pm NJC - yes I'd recommend a 3rd coat for sure. You can tell around our architraves it's only 2 coats. Our paint work is shocking though. I think my kids could of done a better job. MartinsHarmony - yes it was me, love them. We got them on all windows. We still don't have our 3 sliding door ones yet. We got ours motorised and we also love that feature. Sorry I haven't been keeping up. Things have been busy with Xmas then we went away for a week. We've been in the house almost a month and have a massive list of issues it's so frustrating that we gave them so much money to build us a house with so many issues. We have 1 certificate to get off M before we can get our final OC. Bank won't give us anymore money until we have the final OC. I've had to hold off on trades coming for the outside because we have no more $$. Thanks M for also screwing us over on that one. Thanks for the tip GillyM. Well we had a big day today of house stuff. First up was the aircon install at 7am. Took them almost 3 hours. Then we had council come out again, we asked them to come out and do the interim because M hadn't bothered to get us an interim yet. And everything passed on his list of issues from the first visit. We are STILL waiting for our CC to send them certificates. Other than that we only need to level out the council land out the front and we can get our final OC. All he wants is some photos of the front once hubby levels it out and he will process our final OC. Then we had the alarms people here installing the alarm. We are almost done with M trades. We still don't have a water tank pump. And we still have rubbish outside and I still don't have any handles on my laundry chute which is annoying. I found the handles in a box. I also found 4 soap dishes in the garage. Our SS claims we cant install them because we could break the water proofing. I wonder how the shower heads and mixers are screwed in ? I spent $100 at Bunning's yesterday just on new little bathroom accessories. Suction cap soap dishes, suction cap hooks, some more toilet brushes and a bin for our ensuite. S-VE, have you moved in before the council came? How much did it cost you for council to inspect the house and issue the IOC? What council are you with? Did you have Masterton Private Certifier initially to do the IOC? Yes we moved in before getting the interim. Masterton stuffed up and ordered a final OC not an interim. Then they came out the 2nd time for interim and they don't need to come the 3rd time for final OC. Council didn't care that we lived here before interim, Masterton said go ahead and move in so we did. No one told it we weren't allowed. We weren't charged anything and we are in Newcastle council. We've obviously had council, Masterton said they don't use private certification in this area. We added it though, paid the insulation bloke cash in hand for a heap of extra insulation. I've been told to make sure the top and bottom of each door is painted as it can sometimes be left off. I have no idea whether it's been done yet. Builder: ....... But painters started painting 3rd Jan, finished last week. Yesterday rubbish moved away. Today cleaning outside walls. So not sure how Masterton calculate the Christmas closures and contract days. Our construction started early March. So far, honestly, not very impressed of the quality and communications. Hopefully, not long to go and a ok/happy ending. Wish everyone here a beautiful 2017! Good luck with building homes. Good luck with building homes. Our painters are expecting to finish next week hopefully. We have already had most of the outside rubbish removed (but there is still a lot more) and bricks have been cleaned. Our build started mid August 2016. When does your contract finish or has it already? Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13078Jan 14, 2017 8:48 pm NJC, wow! Yours sounds processing right/well. We received the construction welcome letter 9th March, I suppose contract finished already. Rubbish cleared Friday and outside bricks washed today. Painters said will do another coat after all gyprocks fixed. Now there are big gap between wall and window/door frames. Not sure what's supposed to be the next. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13080Jan 14, 2017 8:50 pm NJC Yes carriehhan, we have been very lucky! I'm just hoping it continues to the end!
