Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12993Dec 20, 2016 8:03 am Hi all, I've been following this thread for a little while now as my partner & I are looking at building but are unsure of what path we plan to take. We both like a floor plan that M has to offer so that's a good start I think. Question I have is... I've pretty much heard all the negative & bad with Masterton. Can someone tell me the good? Has anyone had a good experience? Thanks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12994Dec 20, 2016 8:35 am Zoeebabyy - the only issues I have had were with head office - they are ridiculously slow and make mistakes BUT our sales person was awesome and our build so far has been really really good. I have said it before and I honestly believe it depends on the area you are building in as to how your build goes and the quality of work. Unfortunately no matter where you build everyone deals with the same people at head office so that's unavoidable. Our trades have been very good. I have a few relatives who have different trades themselves and they were surprised with the quality of work we have. Good luck! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12995Dec 20, 2016 9:39 am Zoeebabyy we've spoken with 5 friends who've built homes with M, and the story is the building process is stressful, takes more time and energy than expected but in the end you get a great home. The company has been in business for 55 years and complete hundreds of houses a year. We went to another builder who looked cheaper than M but by the time we got them up to M's spec on termite protection and inclusions they were $60k more expensive. Last year M completed builds on time, this year they all seem to be running late, here's hoping they pick up the pace after Christmas. I'm still happy with the decision to build with M Villina Lane 11/14 $3900 08/15 Contract 11/15 DA Approval 02/16 Demolition 03/16 Peg out 06/16 Slab 06/16 Ground floor frame 07/16 1st floor frame & windows 09-12/16 Bricks blog Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12996Dec 20, 2016 9:54 am S-VE I've heard they have gone bankrupt twice and come back again. This peaked my interest so I went looking for info, ASIC shows a Masterton Kitchens Pty Ltd went in to Liquidation in 2013. There's no notice of bankruptcy or liquidation on M the builder. We both like a floor plan that M has to offer so that's a good start I think. Question I have is... I've pretty much heard all the negative & bad with Masterton. Can someone tell me the good? Has anyone had a good experience? Thanks Hi Zooeebabyy...... we built with M during 2014, but still pop into this forum (online too often, get to thinking "i wonder whats happening in m land!"). We love our M house!!!!!! yes, the build was stressful at times, yes, there were issues with our ss and the tradies, and, yes, there were delays, but the house is well built and we love it! we have a sloping block but we really loved the overture design by m. it was not designed for a sloping block, but m were happy to modify it to suit our block. we also loved a b**chwood house with a similar layout, but they wouldn't/couldn't modify it. we have friends who have built with other project home builders as well as independent builders...... ALL have had issues along the way, whether it be no work for long periods, tilers/roofers/carpenters/etc that don't turn up, scaffolding that doesn't meet OHS standards, tiles laid where carpet should be, wrong paint colour on walls, etc, etc, etc. there are issues with all builds along the building journey. so much depends on how organised your allocated ss is. our neighbours (non-M houses) have also had some big issues post build which has required major works to rectify. if you have a look through the forums for other builders, there are also plenty of people not happy with them too. sadly, it happens everywhere..... tradies that m have this year may have worked for a different company last year, and another company next year. there's no guarantee that if you go with company X, then your build will be smooth and easy. as gibson said, things did seem to be better a year (or two) ago with m builds...... there's a lot of people on here who aren't very happy with m at the moment! We have had a real estate agent come to value our house (just for interests sake!) and he was very impressed by the house and the build quality. he also commented that he wouldn't have picked it as a project home build. I think at the end of the day, build the design you love. You will probably be living in it for years to come, so you may as well get the design you love! Good luck with your decision!! We've received our validation letter! Wahooo for finally getting somewhere! It's been crazy here even without the house build starting as today marks the day I became a business owner! Ahhhhhhh Can I ask, how much soil you have all had removed from your block. Our block is pretty much flat. http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12999Dec 20, 2016 2:18 pm We moved in on Sunday, having all the issues other people had like dirty grout. I remember someone made M to re-paint it, as it can't be cleaned. Just was wondering did you email M each time you discovered a problem or waited for 90 days period to end? I am concerned they may refuse to take responsibility if I wait claiming we made the grout dirty. We have a "frameless" shower cabin in the en-suite. It leaks water from under the door and in the gaps between the door and the wall. most of the bathroom floor gets wet. I remember someone in this thread had this problem, but do not remember who and how they dealt with it. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13000Dec 20, 2016 2:28 pm zoeebabyy Hi all, I've been following this thread for a little while now as my partner & I are looking at building but are unsure of what path we plan to take. Has anyone had a good experience? Thanks Hi Zoeebabyy, our experience was a terrible one. Over 3 years for the whole thing (20 months paperwork and 16+months of build) Lots of dramas and quality issues. Our private inspector said he used to recommend M in the past, but no longer due to poor quality of work. I got hooked up by that "Jim wouldn't have it any other way" slogan and the time the company was in the market. But it looks like past performance is no indicator of future performance. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 10649 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 14744 Did you know that you can get rugs made from carpet?
