I think they must be allowed to throw in up to $5k's worth, or thereabouts. Try for flysceens too . Re insulation, we added soundproofing insulation between all internal walls & between floors ... Seems to work ok!Can't recall precise costs ... I think just over $1k for between floors & $3k for all walls. However the one soundproofing measure we failed to take was doors at entry to great room (cavity sliders ideally!). As no door between great room & upper lounge at top of stairs, the noise simply travels up the stairwell. Very annoying in the kitchen hearing the kids tv travel down the stairwell. My hot tip to newbies who want seperate "noise" spaces ... Get a sliding door put in. Well, our post-handover (but pre 90 day) list is finally seeing some action! Don's tiles called & came out today .... I have been whinging to our dearly departed (without notice!) SS since day one about our grouting colour .... Doesn't look like the colour it should be .... Dirt/builders dust appears to be permanently etched into the grouting & no amount of scrubbing by me could get it out. Especially noticeable in the laundry & powder room where we have dark brown tiles with dark brown (almost matching) grout (chosen specifically so it would look nice & clean/almost groutless). Well the powder room almost looks like it has white grouting in places, there is so much gunk in it! Thought i was going bonkers ... But turns out Don's agrees with me & the grout colour is not how it should be in all 4 tiled rooms (cause ... Failing to use dropsheets etc when other tradies come in later to work .... What a surprise ...NOT!) Solution .... The floor tile grouting in all 4 rooms is to be painted with a special product (which has a 25 yr warranty apparently!) so that the proper colour returns! Hallelujah ... It DID take 100 days from handover to be addressed ... But at least i didn't give up!! Let's see how long now for the relevant tradie to come out! Hey Villinaliters Hah ! Exact same thing happened to us with our two bathrooms upstairs. When we had our PCI I kicked up a fuss about the stains in the grout... it was stained by filthy trades shoes with clay on them.. We did not use our bathrooms when we moved in so as to keep the rooms very dry and Don's came and stained the grout with a special resin. It took all day and I must say it looks fantastic. They guy told me the colour will never change and it won't stain. It was a win for us as we absolutely hate dirty grout. 11 months on and it still looks the same as they day the guy did it. And he told us to use nothing but vinegar on our tiles and that is working out well too. Oh and we put a cavity slider in and it works well for heating and cooling as well as noise. We got our stairs done in bamboo, it looks sensational ....it was about 2650 from memory but that was about 18mths ago. Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6429Aug 08, 2015 10:36 pm Shire_Synergy Our tiger tail quote was $1700. Again quiet street with just the usual lines. Did you mean $1800? Nope, it is $18,000 on M variation. The second page is the electrical company quote, which is blank. Were they street lines, between a street pole to a street pole? Or were they private line to someones home? Something like this https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B00lY ... He said the $1700 is probably what it should be not $18000. http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Hi beeprelude, could you please ask him if they ever have to switch off the power lines to install tiger tails and bring ambulance on standby. Could it be some jobs are too complex and require all this? This is the picture of the power lines: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B00lY0 ... sp=sharing The bottom level are two telstra/optus cables, not electrical. The top and middle level are the electrical wires. That sounds like a great price! Fingers crossed it has not substantially changed Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6432Aug 08, 2015 11:25 pm We were told by our SS that they had to use the corner of our block for access as there are wires above where the new driveway will go. He claimed that he'd be saving us about $3000 in tiger tails. Ours must've been made out of stainless steel and yours Fisher75 out of platinum!! Buildersbob - LOL I didn't think of that one. Good idea. Where is our powerpoint for the rangehood? You're close, it has to do with powerpoints. TNC2004 - Cool, great progress on your site. We asked about PCI and apparently it might be in 5 weeks. I'll when I see it!! Did they have to switch off the power and/or bring ambulance on standby? BTW, the rules say, the wires have to be 4 meters away from the scaffolding. Does anyone know how this distance is to be measured? I've put a little sketch here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B00lY0 ... sp=sharing Is it horizontaly (distance A) or the actual distance (B)? It could be our top layer of wires is more than 4 meters if measured as distance B. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6435Aug 09, 2015 9:18 am Fisher75 have you asked them for a copy of the quote? Redwynne is the issue with the kitchen photo the placing of the power points is not even or is that the lighting which makes them appear that way, also the window photo is the height difference with skirting and window frame. BTW loving your progress.. Fisher75 that is a huge variation have they broken it down for you if not I would ask your PCC as that just seems crazy We have had no action this week except delivery of our frames whilst our SS advised me he usually has a carpenter on site the next day apparently they have had an influx and the first floor will be started next week and both levels should be finished in 3 weeks whilst I would like it done faster I am happy with our SS giving us a realistic timeframe instead of as some would say p$&@ing in our pocket... I am really excited to see the first level frames done just to get an idea of the room sizes, moving forward positively.... Thanks for the kitchen photo Buildersbob we got a variation from M re the bulkhead and ours was amended to 2460 and we were not sure how it would look and now we have seen your pic we love it.... Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6439Aug 09, 2015 12:20 pm Redwynne love a good challenge, but might fail this one. Re kitchen pic, think i have been beaten to it .... Is it the powerpoint location of the one on the right? I thought the top handle on the right also looked curved, but thAt might be an optical illusion? I presume the handle size & position is what you chose? If you requested the handles to be centred, like us, then they made a mistake there. With the window pic, is the issue that you will have no skirting under the windows, just architrave ( which i think you are keeping stained, not painted white)? If that is the issue, i suspect there is no solution unless the window heights are changed? But maybe i am wrong with everything ?
