I'm still watching the forum it was rather addictive whilst we were building it kept me sane I remember this time last year we were down and depressed about all the stuff ups with our plans and thought we would never get there. One year later we have been in our house for 3 months and we are looking forward to Xmas day around the pool and inside lapping up the luxury. Life has returned to normal (almost) We just sent in our 3 month report for repairs and it wasn't that bad we are pretty happy overall with everything. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and all the best with your builds in 2015. And GILLY !!! Yay sweet lady you got there in 2014 how awesome xx Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2922Dec 19, 2014 6:39 pm Pikey Hi Everyone ! Yay sweet lady you got there in 2014 how awesome xx Inspiring words, Janet!!! and so true......it IS all worth it in the end!! As most readers on here may know, we have had sooooo many delays and issues, yet here we are at the end of the building journey with a gorgeous new home to move into (soon!). This forum is certainly addictive and I doubt I will be able to stop visiting it either. And I thank you for all your support along the way, Janet!!!!! Indeed, knowing there are so many people on here who can guide, support, and empathise certainly makes this journey a much easier, more knowledgable one. So glad to hear that you're enjoying your gorgeous new home!!!! Have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year!!! If it is calendar days we went over by 1-2 weeks mainly doe to he ups with council- approval took around 10 weeks. We were not charged anything extra which I was really stressing about. I'm not sure if that info is of any use to you or not. Do you know if they will take into account the time Masterton closes up for over Christmas? Shiraz I am also interested as to when the contracted days begin, my partner and I are trying to figure it out as it would make a huge difference to our build. My original assumption was that it may have been from when it is handed over to construction, but that's only a guess. I think we will go over more than that, even considering the Christmas break, which they exclude from the 90 days. I am just concerned how likely they may increase the prices after 1st of January given the dynamics of the demand for their services. So the 1 million dollar question is: pay $5000 and extend the contract by 3 more months or risk paying even more later? Anyone know if the number of people building is growing or declining in the recent months? 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2924Dec 21, 2014 1:41 pm redwynne Fisher75 - We paid at least $7k for ours going over the 90 days contract period and that was after some negotiating too to bring down the price. No word of warning either How did they come up with the 7k figure? My advice to all is try to communicate be email so everything is in writing, keep a timeline of EVERYTHING, ask questions, don't be afraid to insist on something, you are paying a lot of money for your new home and deserve to be completely satisfied. I am currently in the process of completing the paper work with masterton and I'm a little overwhelmed as its my first time building (currently still completing the development application) =$ could anyone please give me an idea on how long the paper work process takes before the demolition ? (I'm so behind compared to everyone else! haha) All of your houses look wonderful! MNT91, don't worry, we are even more behind. We signed our contract on early September, but still did not get the council approval. They also told us, we will have our electrical and other appointments after! the DA approval, than we have to do the demolition and they would have to draw the construction plans. I think we are the record holders for the delays on this thread. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2927Dec 21, 2014 2:08 pm MNT91 Hey guys, was hoping if anyone can help me.. I'm sure you guys have mentioned about it previously but theres just too many pages for me to go through LOL! I'm currently completing a development application/demolition approval given to me by fairfield city council.. but I noticed through the thread that some of you guys are going through a certifier/CDC? I am not familiar with these terminologies unfortunately so apologies for sounding stupid haha can anyone explain to me the difference and cost for either getting the approval with council or certifier? If you can fit your house within CDC setbacks, you would be better off going CDC. 10 days approval process, no neighbors, no council. We went DA and later regretted after we got the council feedback on one neighbor submission. We've waited 3 weeks for 36 bricks to be laid ! Still not done & our SS won't get lower brick clean done til after that ...). At beginning of Dec SS said outside would be all done by 12 Dec. we had a bit of rain i know ... But still, to have about 4 days work to do on 1 dec & arrive at shutdown with it incomplete ... Just a bit (the usual) frustrating! Anyhow ... SS promises all will be done by his return on 14 jan. Not sure who will be coordinating that!!! But still ... We can almost see the "outside" finish line! Just consoling myself with the thought that this time next year we will be in for sure! Here is our last progress shot for a month!!! Haven't actually cooked on it yet!! We are yet to move in, although we have started to move things we have in storage. We are busy getting quotes on blinds, retaining walls, driveway, and decking. I guess I also need to get removalist quotes! We have sold our current house but have a delayed settlement so are in no great need to move in a hurry, although I certainly WANT to move in! Hubby is determined to have the driveway, etc, done before we move, but given xmas hols and tradies are all away, getting these things done soon may be a challenge. I expect we will be in by the end of January (hopefully!). I also figured that the splashback will need regular cleaning, but glass is so much easier to keep clean than tiles. We currently have a glass splashback (not a window though) and it is easy to clean (and I love having no grout!) We did want them submitted before the break. The stress was caused by them promising it would get done and then emailing us 2 days before shut down and saying no it won't get done. I did not respond well to the email and they ended up getting the paperwork submitted before shutdown.
