Hi All,
I've been reading through various posts regarding what's good and what people like, but have a slightly different type of question. I'd like to know how people choose ovens. I am very lucky in that my wife is a great cook, and so in our new house I've pretty much given her a blank cheque on the kitchen (scary thought I know). However.... she's not sure how to choose, and is nervous of buying an oven that she doesn't like (for example). Our current "decisions" are:
1. Two wall ovens - this can be two ovens, or a double wall oven.
2. Induction cooktop with gas side burner.
3. Interested in downdraft ventilation, but I may have just been scared off by the price.
4. French door fridge.
5. Aesthetics are important (to her).
We are still a few months away from needing to put the kitchen in (hoping to be in by Christmas, but suspect reality will get in the way).
The various things I'm wondering are:
a) Are demonstrator setups worthwhile? Is there really enough that you can do at one of these places, eg http://www.sampfordixl.com.au/gaggenau/ ... tions.html
b) Is there any objective way for weeding through the word of mouth horror stories? I assume every brand will have good and bad stories, and what I really want to do is count how many I find?
c) Is Choice good for this stuff? ie should I renew my membership?
d) How much can be saved at the various sales that pop up from time to time (eg massivesale.net.au)?
Anyone have any tips?
Cheers,
Dim
