Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 23Jun 24, 2013 2:23 pm Nope. I've never got a red/pinky hue from it at all. My bathrooms are white with beige walls and a dark brown floor tile, but even then, no red or pink tint ever. Just brown Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 25Jun 24, 2013 2:32 pm I'm so glad to hear it doesn't throw red or pink. I thought I might have been able to see a tinge on the tiny sample in certain lights. I'm so glad it doesn't, I love the colour. It's a lovely warm tone Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 26Aug 19, 2013 10:57 pm Hi, our kitchen bench will be stipple seal gloss. Yes, we signed a waiver and also have to pay a small amount for a chipboard "cover" on the bench top to protect it while the house is under construction. I also remember the bright, shiny bench tops of the early 80s, and with cutting boards and reasonable care, they stayed scratch free... (my friend's bench top was bright orange!!) I believe the diamond gloss is a better product. What about non-streak glass cleaning spray for the benchtop...Has anyone tried this? Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 28Mar 08, 2014 8:39 pm I know this is an old post but I just wanted to say we put diamond gloss in our kitchen 7 years ago. It still looks amazing and it has never gone dull or even scratched (as someone earlier mentioned). We recently sold this house and the buyers chose it because of the 'modern kitchen' so you can't even say it dated much in that time! I even cut sandwiches and cut up fruit with my sharp knives straight onto it, no joke! We are currently building again and I am unsure we can stretch to stone so I'm really thinking about using this again. No buffing required it's awesome on chrome too!! http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u403/xxkat86xx/Mobile%20Uploads/20140310_223219_zpsvyzgylam.jpg Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 33Mar 11, 2014 7:24 pm Is it also food safe? Someone suggested vinegar but I couldn't stand the house smelling like a fish n chip shop Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 35Mar 11, 2014 8:31 pm Hmm, not sure. BTW I love your benches I had to go plain coloured gloss, cos my cupboards have to be the "star". Otherwise I was very tempted by the Valencia and Catalana. Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 36Mar 11, 2014 10:11 pm The Catalana certainly wasn't my choice or taste but once I saw it installed it grew on me we were supposed to have timber tiles behind the sinks but they clashed with the marble look so another thing to be careful of! Re: Show me your diamond gloss benchtops 37Jun 17, 2015 12:45 pm daveandally1 Here are some pics of my laminex diamond gloss. I have white Valencia in the kitchen, and stipple seal in the bathrooms. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b102/paprika_rulz/IMG_3855.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The stipple seal doesn't have a line through it - that's just a shadow. To be honest, while I love the benchtop colours (and I haven't had any issues with scratching so far - I've been in the house for 9 months now), they are annoying to keep clean. Every mark/blemish/spot shows up in the light, and I have to buff it with a soft cloth after spray n wipe cleaning them, otherwise there are streaks. I still love them though, we couldn't afford stone or granite and this was a pretty alternative. What colour are your kitchen cabinets? Hi, planning on using the attached stone pieces in my bathroom.
