Honestly we've had zero ideas or inputs from Arden. Every step of the way we need to find out from other sources and then ask them. It's been frustrating for us. We are building for the first time, and don't have family or friends who've done it to ask either ( they bought established houses)
That was a real challenge for us too. We had some limited, but good suggestions and advice from the original sales consultant on some structural items, but the rest was through our own research and through forums like this one.
I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard for Arden to compile a list of add-ons/extras that a client could look through and consider. Surely that could lead to extra revenue for them and less stress/better experience for the client?
When you visit a display you can ask for the price breakdown of the upgrades. That should give you an idea of how much stuff costs (like upgraded benchtops, upgraded carpets, upgraded flooring, upgraded tiles, etc.) - a lot of those things that most people change.
Of course ymmv depending on the upgrades that you want but i found those very helpful to get an idea of total budget.
I'm talking about stuff like cold water tap in the fridge space, floor drain hole in the laundry or bathroom, wash and wear paint, ceiling fans, junction boxes, extra cooling or heating vents, etc. Those are not included or advertised, you kind of have to do research to know to ask for these things.
