I'm confused! I don't think ISPs will offer dedicated IPTV services off of the nbn directly anytime soon. It may be in the future. For now NBN only provides phone + internet. Saying that, if you plan on getting IPTV services from the likes of Fetch, then you'll definitely need a data port that connects to your router. The newer foxtel iq boxes also require a network connection. For me, I stream Netflix on my TV, and i also stream media from my home PC, so i went data points galore and had 2 ports where i would have a TV. Will a phone line be able to then become a data point for NBN or just be phone line once NBN in your area? You can certainly convert a data port into a phone line, but not vice versa (i used to work as a network engineer, btw). So if you have a phone line, it will stay that way. We added a data point and foxtel point for two tvs, will this be ok?? or will foxtel need the data point instead of tv? Sorry just out of tender, head hurts and I can't help but think I've missed something!?!? Re: Arden Developments 612Jun 20, 2017 6:28 pm Ezza78 Does anyone know do you need a data point for each tv for future NBN connection? I'm confused! TV point is different to data point. In the future TV will be consumed via data channels but till then you'll probably still require an antennae cable. Re: Arden Developments 613Jun 20, 2017 6:38 pm Hi Ezza, Foxtel points are like your regular antennae - they use a different cable. I would put a foxtel point for each tv, and a data port each for internet connectivity (if you plan to use foxtel iq3 or connect your tv/xbox/ps4 to the wired network), or if your tv has wifi just hook it up wirelessly. Also for TV you will not need noggin as there is stud at every 600 and wall mount is bigger than that, hence will directly fixed. Re: Arden Developments 616Jun 21, 2017 8:55 pm I had a broom cupboard added to the side of the laundry. I believe it the top will have a bulkhead, similar to how they do overhead cupboards. I haven't got my final drawings yet but that's just my guess.
