I guess that explains why we had the choice of colour for the exposed aggregate as we went for the custom colour selection. Our Site Supervisor called today to set up a time for the "walk through", which I'm assuming is the New Home Presentation. It's scheduled for Friday, August 15th. Now what did I have to bring? A phone charger. What else? Globes? What should I remember to check, aside from the obvious? 19.03.14 - Land Settlement 15.04.14 - Building Permit 28.04.14 - Earthworks 14.05.14 - Slab Stage 20.05.14 - Frame Stage 11.06.14 - Lock Up Stage 03.07.14 - Fix Stage 15.08.14 - New Home Presentation Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1785Aug 06, 2014 10:10 am Wow you guys, I can't believe how far along you all are!! So, after over 3 MONTHS since the land was settled, I'm finally being handed to construction today. To say it's been stressful is an understatement. I can't fault the people I've been dealing with at HBC, but as you can imagine it's been a gut renching wait, especially since I've been watching you guys all scream ahead so quickly. I signed on a YEAR ago, and I'm only up to here And the longer it drags out, the longer I pay rent + mortgage.... Oh well, onwards and upwards! Can't wait to get started! Bascially, if your block is under 300m2, you have to get town planning approval. The first time I even heard of that was when bkoolrocks started talking about their hold up... Sigh. Fingers crossed for a smooth build now Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1786Aug 06, 2014 1:16 pm Our payment has gone through and we are planning to grab the keys tomorrow. Asked for booking in the trades for appliance installs on WED & THU next week... appliance installs pushed to the end so as to enable to our landscaping guy to finish his work..We have a tight access through one side only and that's where our hot water tank is going in !! So, I should be moving in officially over the weekend ! 9/4/14-Site Start 9/5/14-Slab 16/5/14-Frame 21/5/14-Roof 31/5/14-Bricks 6/6/14-Plaster 14/6/14-Fixing 19/7/14 -Flooring 8/8/14 - Keys http://newnestinmelbourne.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1787Aug 06, 2014 1:18 pm they say the light globes will be installed along with the appliances only !! is that the case with everyone? The electricity/lights would already be in use from the tradesmen. Congrats on your move bkoolrocks! Good luck GG! That sucks Ruby, be persistent. The bad news is- driveways can't really be fixed. I know this now as I came home the other day to scrape marks on mine- turns out it was the concrete delivery truck from the construction across the road that felt the need to pull into my driveway and I guess...reverse quickly so he scraped on the way out and reversed into a newly built retaining wall of the construction he just delivered for. The SS of that build called us as I put in a complaint..he is having dramas with his suppliers and how they are treating new builds. Very apologetic. Our damage isn't huge, a couple of white scrapes here and there but driveways are a pain! We are building the vogue 17 in eucalypt estate wollert. We were previously building with Porter Davis but the bank kept under valuing the construction. Are so much happier after coming to homebuyers, the experience has been good so far so fingers crossed. Just dealing with the dreaded permit issues I've been reading so much about with blocks under 300m2 but we are just happy to be building so will try to be patient. Is anyone else building the vogue? Please follow our blog. http://vogue17eucalypt.blogspot.com.au/ Thanks, Tan Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1793Aug 12, 2014 9:59 am Tan11...welcome to HBC... and welcome to eucalypt..have a look at my build...just completed our vogue17 in eucalypt..and we just moved in... you are more than welcome to come and have a look at our house if you want to.. let me know.. 9/4/14-Site Start 9/5/14-Slab 16/5/14-Frame 21/5/14-Roof 31/5/14-Bricks 6/6/14-Plaster 14/6/14-Fixing 19/7/14 -Flooring 8/8/14 - Keys http://newnestinmelbourne.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1794Aug 12, 2014 4:17 pm Welcome Tan! But since all that mess a fair few things have started which is awesome. Our new home was officially started on the 23rd July when the portaloo and sign with SS details on it. On the 24th July they had levelled the site and put up the site fencing. Slab was finished on the 6th. frame was done on the 13th Roof trusses finished today. We still haven't had a call from our SS or been introduced to him sadly but hope this changes soon. I noticed when they poured the slab there was some extra concrete which they just poured onto the block about 4x1 meters long and 100mm thick. We emailed HBC asking if this was going to be removed as it's right where I will be putting a pond. Since then they covered this concrete up with about an inch of dirt. Is this normal or will they actually remove it? Cheers all. This isn't normal but it sounds like a common thing for the HBC as the next door neighbours build with HBC and when had the same thing dumped onto our block. But ours was about nearly 300mm thick! Rang the HBC saying that they had dumped the concrete as we needed to clean our block but they said it wasn't their issue and that they didn't dump it and it must have been someone else... I called bull dust but they didn't do anything except say if the concrete wasn't moved and cleared from the block the wouldn't start the build until it was! So spent $250 on a skip and nearly 4 hours breaking massive blocks of concrete up with a sledge hammer!
