Two hours after I left the colours appointment, I realised that they had selected the same colour for the skirting and architraves, which would look horrible. I sent an email through saying "oops, can I please have white for these?". They were going to charge me to have a contrasting colour and then charge me to have 3 coats of white. I questioned why the white would take 3 coats, but not the Mouse. LONG story short, some colours "cover" better. They came up with a bluish white that I could have everywhere. I absolutely didn't accept it because all of the colour choices in my house were warm. In the end, we reached a compromise. They're doing the skirting and architraves 2 coats of "Designer White", which is the colour I wanted, because those surfaces are pre-primed. They're doing walls 2 coats of that cool bluish white, which I will paint over after handover. There was no way I would pay $1400 to have white archs and We also had problems with the skirting and architraves colours. We chose a light grey (Morning Grey) for the walls and wanted white for the skirting and architraves. Whilst this is possibly our fault for not reading through and just assuming we could pick the skirting and architraves, we got to the colour selection and got a very firm No we couldn't have a different colour to the wall, they had to be the same, and then we got whisked away to the next section to make our other choices. It wasn't until we got home and was reading through everything that we thought about it properly. Long story short, we emailed them the next day stating we were unhappy and they came back with $432 to do the skirting and architraves a different colour. We fought a bit more but ultimately accepted paying the extra as we figured the amount of stuffing around to do it all ourselves is probably worth the extra cost. What annoys me though is that they have to use a different paint for the skirting boards and architraves anyway for the gloss finish so why can't we change the colour. I would understand if we chose a colour that is not in the standard range but we didn't. We also got pushed into a tile and grout selection we didn't want for the shower which we also got changed at the same time. What colours did you choose? Best of luck with your build Hi James, We chose twilight for our roof, praline bricks and monument garage door. The inside is pretty much white. Tiles are mostly grey. Hope it works out well!
