I have big news - we signed off on the house today!! Everything looked great and everything worked!! There were a few paint touch ups that needed doing and there was an issue with the flooring in the kitchen - there was like a lump underneath or something, so our ss checked with his level and sure enough it wasn't level just in that spot... So he is going to get that fixed along with the paint touch ups in the next few days but we were happy to sign off on it with those small couple of things (it felt like the underlay was folded over underneath or something)... So I have contacted our broker to get the ball rolling on the finance side of things and I am going to get my insurance organised tomorrow... Apparently the certificate of occupancy has already been issued so I was happy to hear that! And we just need our fricken neighbours contact details from the freaking council to get the quotes to them for the fencing! Hopefully they don't take too long to sign off on that! My fault - should've had it sorted ages ago!! Still to organise: Bins, internet (in the process sort of), clothesline, and fencing of course... Anyone planning on having security doors installed? Something my friends and I were talking about today (they have both just moved into their new houses in Ambrosia - one is a girl I work with, and one is a girl I used to work with elsewhere, and they happen to be next door neighbours!) Anyway not sold on whether I want them yet, although I guess it makes sense! Congrats on signing off on the house!!! So happy for you! With insurance, you might want to get a quote you can go back to later on but not activate it yet. Reason I say that is that in the final progress payment invoice that the bank send to you- (pretty sure this is most banks) it will say that they need to be added to the insurance certificate as an interested party and how much your minimum house value should be...unless your bank has already told you this then it should be right. There is a form you complete from Council, a fencing details request to get your neighbours details. When I filled it out, the Council responded in 24hrs with the details I needed so that was pretty good! I'm not sure about a security door either, still deciding on that one...I think we are leaning more to yes. Blog: http://dandesbuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1230May 16, 2014 12:31 pm Hey pooks - how did the council provide the details? Via email? They have told me 10 WORKING DAYS!! I can't wait 10 freaking working days! And how did you organise your bins? Just via phone? We don't have an actual handover date yet but I don't think it will be long as our bank only requires the final invoice signed by us and the valuation. We don't have to provide insurance certificate or certificate of occupancy or anything else... I could have actually had the invoice organised weeks ago if I had've known :/ oh well! So today happened...all went to plan and we now have keys!!!!!!!! We got a hamper too I promise to fill in more details later but for now I have to do the last of the packing because we have the removal truck for 24 hours and tomorrow is the big day. Well I went to the council office in cranbourne today to get my neighbours details on the spot, and organised our bins and got an animal registration form for our dog... It's all happening! I was hoping to get our last invoice by the end of today but it hasn't come through so looks like it will be Monday now - hopefully the bank doesn't take too long to organise the valuation and get it done! All going well we could have keys by the end of next week - which means some impromptu (unpaid ) sick leave for me (I have a broken knee anyway so technically I'm sick!) I think our moving will be over a week cos I am so crippled at the moment so basically nothing is packed Building Abode 22 Cranbourne West Contract Signing 30/10/13 Land titled 31/10/13 Settlement on land due 20/11/13 Formal Approval 14/11/13 Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1234May 16, 2014 6:53 pm pooks83 So today happened...all went to plan and we now have keys!!!!!!!! Your well wishes are so kind. So as you know it was really touch and go with getting the final payment made to be able to pick up keys but it was all well in the end. I went into the Docklands office and my construction lady gave me a folder and explained all the contents: keys, warranties, cleaning guides etc. she said that I can still call my SS for 4 weeks incase I spot something and after that I can still contact my construction liaison for 12 months. After the 13 months they do an inspection. In the house there was a microfibre mop kit with cleaning solution because you can't clean the laminate wood flooring the regular way! We moved 2 truckloads and still have a little bit to go (gym equipment!) but we moved everything else. It was a hell of a car ride with 5 cats in their carriers but last night they settled really well. They are a little on edge today now that I've opened the blinds and they can see outside! It was a sleepless night last night for all. Our appliances are getting installed on Wednesday (hot water and kitchen appliances) and the ducted heating is getting programmed on Thursday. The NBN saga continues. Apparently there IS a blockage in the pipes under the footpath but worst of all the land developers have known about this since December 2013 and were supposed to get it fixed. I have to call PEET head office tomorrow and see what can be done...I also have to call Telstra and cancel everything! So there is lots to unpack and do but I'm hoping by the end of the week we should be settled Build Permit-17/12/13 Earthworks-13/1/14 Slab-30/1/14 Frame-10/2/14 Lock Up-7/3/14 Fixing Stage Complete-20/3/14 New Home Presentation-6/5/14 Moved in 17/5/14!
