Went through and did a custom colour selection and everything that went with it. After reading through this thread i was thinking we would be there for 4-5 hours but it only took us a little over 3. We had most of it already worked out though so i'm guessing that helped. Now that everything is selected it really is just waiting for the land to title, might have to start a blog whilst I am waiting. Did anyone else get warned about the possibility of having to pay for extra concrete in the front driveway or path? Has anyone been in a position where they have had to pay? Aparently it is quite expensive. Hope you are happy with everything from yesterday We weren't warned about the extra concrete cost. To gain developer approval however it needed to be extended. We received a call and invoice during all that process. We went from 32m2 to 41m2 and it cost around $940. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1072Apr 29, 2014 11:48 am we payed $527 for 37m2 instead of their 32m2 we had no warning and this was an outa pocket expense just before construction for us Site Start 11/3/14 Slab Pour 2/4/14 Framing Complete 8/4/14 Lock Up 1/5/14 Fixing Stage Complete 14/5/14 New Home Presentation 20/6/14 Handover 2/7/14 blog: http://firsthomebuilding.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1073Apr 29, 2014 4:11 pm My slab was due to be poured today, was a bit worried because of the rain however when I drove past this morning it had already been done at the end of last week! Very happy. Frames booked for next week so when I get back from my holiday my SS said frames will be up and roof on. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1074Apr 29, 2014 6:06 pm Hey everyone. Just thought I would share our concrete pathing quote we got tonight. We are getting coloured concrete (same as driveway) around the whole house except for our back alfresco corner as we are extending our deck out a bit. For 50sq.m it's costing $3000 cash price (we are paying cash, otherwise is $3200). It works out to be about $60 a metre which is good for coloured concrete. It's the HBC concreter, if you go direct after handover you aren't paying the upmarked price from HBC- our builder and concreter told us that. We are probably booking him in for 19th May Build Permit-17/12/13 Earthworks-13/1/14 Slab-30/1/14 Frame-10/2/14 Lock Up-7/3/14 Fixing Stage Complete-20/3/14 New Home Presentation-6/5/14 Moved in 17/5/14! Slabs poured and close to lock up is good! Thanks for the update, Pooks. $3k is a lot of coin! Are you built up to the boundary on one side? I always wondered how that would work - can't really have a concrete path on that side so there's no way of protecting the foundation on that side, really. Or am I missing something? Anyway, good job on getting that organised. 19.03.14 - Land Settlement 15.04.14 - Building Permit 28.04.14 - Earthworks 14.05.14 - Slab Stage 20.05.14 - Frame Stage 11.06.14 - Lock Up Stage 03.07.14 - Fix Stage 15.08.14 - New Home Presentation Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1078Apr 29, 2014 9:43 pm Thanks Gaviscon Girl. No we haven't built to boundary on either side however our garage is only 20cms off the fence line! So the path will wrap around to the back garage door (there is about 1.5metres width space on our smaller side of the house). It is a lot of coin but we expected about $3500. Concrete is gold apparently! That's a good question about protecting the side foundations. I guess guttering would protect a lot of moisture against the house and the fence so there isn't any ground space really. Not sure? Congrats on the slab mtreg!! Blog: http://dandesbuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1079Apr 30, 2014 1:32 pm Received an email saying plaster is now next week. This has been the only part of the build so far has been delayed a few times. But bad weather will do it. Lock up invoice came through today. Double checked HBC info and according to them lock up doesn't include plaster. Highest invoice amount too. Here comes the pain! Heh. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 1080Apr 30, 2014 3:21 pm So our driveway got delayed because of the weather but it's still booked in for this week which is good! Final clean (house and site) is also booked for this week so that's good news!! Not sure whether our benchtops have gone in yet but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough! But the real excitement is in the furniture I just bought!! Man I love interest free finance!! lol I paid cash for a new leather corner lounge and put a dining table, buffet, tv unit and coffee table all on finance!! hehe look like i'll be paying interest only payments on the house for a while haha!!! SO that's all the big purchases done!! All up $11k :/ yikes but it is a new house so why not?!
