That would be annoying having to take time off work that you are not compensated for and they never seem to be able to send someone after hours or when it suits your working schedule!! This is why I really want them to fix all their mistakes before we move in but I know that is so not going to happen. Good idea on the professional cleaners too, just one less thing for you to worry about. That's so cheeky of Jason windows leaving that paint for you to do your own touch ups. I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way and hope the actual move goes well and that you get to start enjoying your house soon https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: First home build with Dale Alcock in Aveley: Progress 822May 23, 2014 2:54 pm Hope everything is going well FP, Have you moved in yet? We're relieved to be in but still discovering issues with the house (grout falling out of tiles, missing soft close toilet lid that we upgraded to, not convinced the paintwork is actually Designer White now we've put the skirting in, ongoing issues with the wood floor etc. ) Seriously, I just want to tear my hair out! One of the flooring guys referred to our place as 'the devil house' and I couldn't agree with him more. I'm most looking forward to the day when there will be no more tradies coming through our doors correcting issues. That will be the day we pop the champagne and truly celebrate! On the plus side it has been wonderful to have our own space where we can do exactly what we want to do and it's great to no longer be paying off someone else's mortgage. Our wedding day was the most perfect day of my life (17 guests is totally the way to go!) so there have been plenty of positives too. I just have to trust that it will all come together in time and all the drama we're currently going through will eventually be forgotten. I don't really have any photos at the moment as we've been rushed off our feet getting everything moved in and entertaining our guests, so instead here is an iPhone snap of my bouquet. It'll give you an idea of just how great the floors look with the skirting and the White Duck Half! I'll try to take some update photos later this week. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/bouquet_zps20b36761.jpg Building with Dale Alcock Homes in Aveley Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63880 And yes, my pants are indeed fancy. What are the upper 3 and lower 4 points for? We are thinking of smart wiring; just unable to understand few things . BTW love the flooring and the paving . From the hints in the bouquet, I bet it was beautiful. And I'm sorry to hear about the house dramas. It does feel like every new trade who comes into your house achieves something, but also creates some new problems to deal with. Two steps forward, one step back.... It’s so weird referring to ‘my husband’. We’ve had an insane month. We had to be out of our old place on the 10th but couldn’t move in to the house until the 14th because we have to wait for the floors to be ready. As a result we moved everything into the garage and lived with the in-laws in Yanchep for 4 days. Then guests arrived on the 15th and the wedding was on the 17th. This was not what we planned. We made bookings for the wedding when we were told we would get keys in February and have floors in March! So basically we’re still unpacking boxes from the garage. I was going to wait to post pics until we had the place all clean and tidy and I'd located my 'real' camera but frankly, you’ll be waiting for images for 6 months at this rate! Every surface in this house is covered in items that needs sorting into one of the keep/charity/trash piles, so you'll have to excuse the mess. By the end, our packing was so frantic we just decided to take everything and sort it once we were in. Plus I figure if you see the state it's in now our 'after' photos will be magnificent by comparison! So here’s a quick house tour via iPhone. Theatre room. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/library_zps5828ac0b.jpg Office. Or NBN hub. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/office_zps7b8c56cc.jpg The theatre room and the office are currently completely naked. We want to get some companies in to quote us on having built-ins as we’d like a wall or two of bookshelves (mini-library) in the theatre room and a complete set-up in the office. They both illustrate how good the floors look though! Please ignore all the furniture in the following images. None of it is staying but we haven’t had time to make final decisions on what we want. The couch and dining setting is courtesy of the in-laws. The coffee table and TV bench are courtesy of IKEA circa 2006. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/living1_zpsd5d0937b.jpg Look how little our TV is! It was huge in the tiny apartment but the hubby has officially placed it on the 'to replace' list. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/living3_zpsacaf5d77.jpg http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/living4_zpsa683c4e4.jpg Bar stools courtesy of our friends. These don't look too bad. I was leaning towards black Tolix stools but now I'm undecided. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/living2_zps4efc5480.jpg Our tiny little fridge, also on the 'to replace' list. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/living5_zpsfe425a7b.jpg Yay for our first ever dishwasher!! Boo for the old, old microwave. Also on the 'to replace' list. The floor guys are coming back to put beading around the island and in the floor length windows. I wanted it to be white instead of Jarrah so we painted it when we did the skirting boards. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/dishdrawer_zps9b6b4e12.jpg The laundry. We're getting a wall mounted dryer asap. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/laundry1_zps0007988a.jpg Bedroom 2 is a guest room - with a queen bed and the cheapest IKEA drawers we could find! I think I might keep these and paint them with enamel. I'm also liking the idea of a feature wallpaper behind the bed head. PS - the carpet is the softest, squishiest carpet I have ever experienced. So glad we spent a little extra cash at Trevor's. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/bedroom2_zpsb27bdf9e.jpg Bedroom 3 is a temporary office for hubby until we can finalise what we want to do in the actual office. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/bedroom3_zps487b6a6c.jpg And Bedroom 4 is a sorting room/Chinese laundry. All that green stuff is bubble wrap! Slowly, slowly. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/bedroom4_zpsb1241aa3.jpg The boudoir. With squooshy, squooshy carpet. We need all new furniture here too. I couldn't even be bothered making the bed properly for you. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/Bedroom1_zps5c637107.jpg The outside. We have lawn and agapanthus, a liquidambar on the verge and the tiniest two hydrangeas I ever did see in the planter box! We haven't decided on exterior lights yet either. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/front_zps9a190359.jpg Because two letterboxes are better than one! We found we had to add another layer of brickwork in order for the face plate we had made to look right. One day it'll get rendered. The portico still needs to be painted too. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/letterbox_zps05178a63.jpg Look at those tiny little baby hydrangeas! There is supposed to be mulch where the sand is too. We weren't sure if we were going to plant anything there so we asked them to fill it with mulch, which they seem to have forgotten. We might put in a row of agapanthus (to keep with the theme) or a small hedge. it depends if anything can withstand the lack of direct sunlight. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/planterbox_zps9153c089.jpg The garage. Currently filled with things that are supposed to be inside. Not the car obviously, that decided to die the week we moved in. Because there's nothing more fun than having to pay for a new car on top of a house and a wedding! Grrrrrr. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/garage_zpse4a2c44d.jpg And just to prove that our kitchen hasn't always looked like a bomb site here's another picture of my bouquet! http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/ag10/pants_de_fancy/bouquet_zps8c9f1e7b.jpg Building with Dale Alcock Homes in Aveley Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63880 And yes, my pants are indeed fancy.
