Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Mar 13, 2013 9:33 am Hi, I have mentioned this in the new build section, but not sure if that was the right place, so apologies if you've heard this before! Reading our pre-start costings sheets I've noticed that they have us down for having floor tiles as the kick board under the vanities. I'm not sure whether I want that - particularly in the en suite as there's a stark contrast between floor and wall/skirting tiles - walls are white, floor is black, feature tile in shower and between the two sinks is black, vanity doors white and bench black. So, as it is at the moment the kickboard would be black and the skirting white. Does anyone else have this and does it look ok? If you have photos it would be great to see them! I can change it to white, I'm just not sure what would look best. We have the sameissue in the main bathroom, although the contrast will be much less - floor is a tile from imported ceramics called silver, walls white, feature silver and wood and glass, bench and top both in formica slalom (not sure if I'm happy with these selections, but that's another story!) Any photos or advice much appreciated! Re: Could i please see Photos of your vanities? 2Mar 13, 2013 12:26 pm Have a look at my Facebook link in my signature below. There are a few vanity photos on there. We have dark floor tiles, the white wall tiles will be the kick bit, hob and skirting then dark vanity and light stone top. Re: Could i please see Photos of your vanities? 4Mar 15, 2013 1:40 am But I have black floor tiles, with one row of black tiles as skirting around the room. The tiles also form the kickboard of my vanities. The cupboards are white with a dark grey bench top. The splash back tile between the bench and mirror is white, and so are the wall tiles in the shower. Ok I found a couple of photos from before I moved in, they aren't the best but hopefully it gives you and idea. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n192/ref_kt/House/16348_384804240222_527885222_101-1.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n192/ref_kt/House/16348_384804235222_527885222_101-1.jpg Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: Could i please see Photos of your vanities? 5Mar 15, 2013 2:25 pm Thanks for your photos ref_kt. We're building with Redink too! We're not looking to buy a vanity, thanks Cocomo Living1, and we're in WA. We have a vanity included, I'm just trying to get my colour scheme right. Re: Could i please see Photos of your vanities? 6Mar 19, 2013 3:17 pm I've seen this done and it can look really nice however I wouldn't do a black floor tile as a kick for a white vanity. I have used a gloss white vanity with an off-white floor tile as the vanity kick and it looked great. If you have a dark floor tile you might be better off asking if you can wall hang the vanity, or most bought vanities come with a kick that matches the cabinetry. It shows up everything (according to posts)! I did silver grey floor with white walls and it looks stunning! I haven't taken photos yet as the silver trim around the mirror isn't finished. I opted for black and white wallpaper (approx 1 mtr from cornices down) for a feature since it would look quite bland with the tiles alone. I have lilac paint on unpapered walls. It's very different and looks bigger than before, as I swapped the bath around. Photos to follow. Re: Could i please see Photos of your vanities? 10Apr 15, 2013 11:37 pm Haha, I agreed to husband's choice of a black floor as I thought it would hide everything! We had very light gray before which got quite dirty, and in our rental we have a horrible peachy sort of a colour, which does the same. Would love to see pictures of your silver gray and white bathroom. Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
