Is that the wood look tiles rocky? I think we may do the same. Re: Decking or Paving or Aggregate for Alfresco 11Feb 03, 2013 8:22 pm What about honey aggregate for around the pool and granite in the alfresco? Seen some nice pictures with honed/polished aggregate and looked very nice. Same goes for the granite tiles. However, not sure if honed aggregate would get too hot around the pool in summer...? Does Fremantle stone have better quality pavers than other companies? I found some pavers that retail at the same price as Fremantle stone but cost less, are they lower quality? How does one can check the quality of the stone? Re: Decking or Paving or Aggregate for Alfresco 15Feb 09, 2013 7:18 pm Timber.. Timber.. Timber.. It requires more maintenance yes, but concrete gets dirty and dusty, tiles look disgusting if not cleaned very regularly. Timber is far nicer to walk on, concrete and tiles are either hot or cold and very hard. To me, decking is just so inviting. It present as a feature also, especially if a nice hardwood is used. On the timber usage topic, please consider not using merbau. Most of it is illegally logged Malaysian rainforest. We have the best hardwoods in the world in Australia, all of which are sustainable. Use one of them instead. Re: Decking or Paving or Aggregate for Alfresco 16Feb 10, 2013 9:52 am We had the slab extended at build and using tiles/pavers. Figured it was easier and they didn't seem to have an issue with extra cost. Re: Decking or Paving or Aggregate for Alfresco 17Feb 10, 2013 11:12 am We are getting grano in our alfresco and on the verandah/portico area. That way we can have decking without weeds coming up through the deck if we want to or have tiles. I'm a bit torn at the moment but leaning more towards tiles in the alfresco. I think they are easier to maintain (hose and broom occasionally) and they don't warp. They are good for thermal mass too. Decking might be better out the front of our house though as we have a west aspect and it might help with the heat. Lots to think about. Re: Decking or Paving or Aggregate for Alfresco 19Feb 20, 2013 3:04 am CC101 hi - have you made any decision or not yet? Most likely we will go with aggregate but it won't happen for a while... Too many things to do too little money to do it... Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10975 Last year I had a gas leak at my house. 3 days later, I have about 1 sqm of my exposed aggregate paving broken up. I am not sure how to go about getting it repaired… 0 10415 |
