Browse Forums Building A New House Boutique Homes 1467Sep 09, 2015 9:43 pm I agree reading all these stories is so sad. We are coming up almost 12 months and so happy with our house. Yes we had dramas but at the end of the day all was fixed in the end. And the end product is amazing. Hope everyone's issues are sorted and it becomes a distant memory in time. After recovering from our landscaping we are about to buy some sheer curtains and a buffet in the coming weeks. Can't wait Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Boutique Homes 1469Sep 09, 2015 9:58 pm Thanks PetaJ we do love them one thing we would have done different with them is a higher gloss finish. In the day light they are a bit dull and not wearing as well as we would like. Ah well. Another year or so and well sand them back and have another crack Re: Boutique Homes 1470Sep 09, 2015 10:01 pm Heres some updated photos of our place. We are just startimg landscaping we did our deck a week ago. Re: Boutique Homes 1474Sep 09, 2015 10:20 pm Yeah I'm in finance too. Guess someone skimped on my artistic talent when they were being handed round putting grey on the dining room wall and behind the tv in living room. Then the theatre room will be all grey on hubbies request not so sure about that but who am I to argue. That's his fav room so... Re: Boutique Homes 1475Sep 09, 2015 10:24 pm Pippa what colour is your floor? It's gorgeous. It's good to hear positive stories!!! Our build is going in a positive way which makes me happy. It still seems like forever away though, but trying to enjoy the process. Peta your styling is great - love it!!! What's your plan for your front yard? Hahaha i am sure its in you somewhere you just may not have found it yet. Watch the block that will give you some ideas. Ohhhh thats nice. I think all grey in the theater is ok cause its good for it to be darkish in there. Re: Boutique Homes 1477Sep 09, 2015 10:27 pm The timber is grey ironbark. We were tossing up between that and spotted gum but went with the ironbark in the end as the colour was a bit darker and matched the kitchen a bit better. The floor was an after thought Re: Boutique Homes 1478Sep 09, 2015 10:28 pm We are going with Spotted Gum - hope it looks something like that!!! What's your plan for your front yard? Thanks 😊 depending on $$$ i am wanting to get some really big rocks for the front. We are on quite a incline so i think it will look good and with alot of plants. But see how we go for funds as ghats the last thing we are going to do. Re: Boutique Homes 1480Sep 10, 2015 6:55 am Shellzmac At the end of the day they are building a house from scratch with various tradesmen. At the end of the day they are just customer service and organisers. Its the trades that are sometimes slack. And boutique do their best at putting them in line. All of the photos look great, no doubt - great to see some beautiful homes I do have to disagree with the idea that "boutique do their best" and "they are just customer service and organisers". While their business model may be customer service and project management - that's not my concern. I paid a premium (as we all have) for something you don't get at other builders - and we definitely didn't get that. We've got missing globes in the rangehood, missing door stops and paint splatter on handles, tiled floors and stone benches. Yes - it's all the little things - and that's exactly my point. The attention to detail just isn't there, and that's what I thought I was paying for. Add to that they took an extra 2+ months to finish the house, and there are still 20+ items I can name off the top of my head that are still not right - so you can imagine my disappointment and ongoing frustration with Boutique. Without doubt, we spent a lot more with Boutique than if we'd gone to a Metricon or similar. And I just don't see what I got for the premium I paid. I'll post some photos soon - we had the house cleaned (properly) so it's now looking a lot better than when it was handed over. On the plus side, I've had quite a few people send me PMs thanking me for sharing my experience, and based on the experience I had, they chose to go with another builder. A couple of people still went with Boutique (you know who you are ) - and I sincerely hope that everyones build goes perfectly, regardless of who they build with. Photos soon! 10 15761 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74717 |
