Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Hartley 361- build 161Nov 10, 2012 12:22 pm Yeah I think I should of took the picture from the top of the pallet. They had the colours through it going to the block some time today will have a look, but they do seem to be lighter then I remembered hope the move went smoothly for you. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 162Nov 10, 2012 9:53 pm The move went well just living in this big house with not much furniture! Put the 50 inch tv up on the playroom wall today, now just worried it is going to come crashing down on one of the kids! Might have to down size, was originally our tv but faulty and cheaper to buy another in the end we fixed it but it weighs a tonne, not happy about it! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 163Nov 10, 2012 10:27 pm Yeah our house will be empty as well we planned to save and buy new furniture before we moved in but had to change our plans, I found temporary blinds on line which I was happy about so will pop them up as the fence is the first thing we want to do. The electrician has been so I guess plumbing bricks then plaster Re: Our Hartley 361- build 164Nov 11, 2012 11:45 am moving along... The bricks will go up this week I guess? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Hartley 361- build 165Nov 12, 2012 8:43 am How exciting for you to have your roof on!! Our bricks (also the mocha) looked a little lighter than I remembered also but im thinking once they are all done and with the mortar it will look darker. Anyways i am still super happy with the colour regardless so thats good! Did they give you any idea when the bricking will be started? Re: Our Hartley 361- build 166Nov 12, 2012 9:18 am Yeah I am pretty happy with the colour of the bricks, I think it will look great with any colour window frames but I'm glad we picked black around the windows now as i was worried the bricks and frames may of been too dark together. The electrician has wired it all and we were unable to get down there in time, I'm "spewing" lol.. no ones fault just the circumstances. I really want that roof light in the ensuite. I gave him a call and he said he will be back throughout the build and can add it then so that's good and if possible a PowerPoint in the pantry and laundry cupboard (bought one of those cordless dy?0n vaccs need to plug it in somewhere.. And wouldn't mind storing the toaster and kettle in the pantry.. I think the bricks will be started this week, not going to look at it now until the weekend. WHATS YOUR BUILD UP TO JPC? Re: Our Hartley 361- build 167Nov 13, 2012 10:09 am We went up to our house yesterday but I am a tad confused. The SS said Frame, Gutters, Roof Tiles, then Bricks. Well the frame is pretty much done and they have started bricking but only up to the edge of the slab. So there is about 4 rows of bricks around the house... We were due to have our frame inspected last Fariday but the SS cancelled that cos the frame wasnt ready so its booked for this friday but somehow they have begun on the bricks but have stoped squarly with the top of the slab... I dont know whats going on, not going to hassel him either, any mistakes will be picked up in the inspection I suppose. Bricks look good though! Oh and the window for our back games room has some sort of issue cos it was in and now its come out and is sitting in a pile of dirt at the front of the block Re: Our Hartley 361- build 168Nov 13, 2012 11:27 am Interesting! I noticed with ours that when the beams went missing they worked on something else which i was happy with it kept things moving, hopefully they get that window sorted soon for you. A few of ours went missing but the order went through within a week and they were up in no time. Glad you like the bricks I'm not going to the weekend I'm hoping they have started the bricks this week, gives me something to look forward to. We have had the second invoice sent through that should give you a good indication of where they are at. I think next is lock up stage for us. The SS said lockup by Christmas??? My husband keeps telling me that it doesn't seem to be moving fast enough compared to our previous builds but I think it because it is a much bigger house. I really hope the bricks are going up I think that will make him happy Re: Our Hartley 361- build 169Nov 15, 2012 9:51 pm Ok so today we appear to have both airconditioner and heating, giant units on the roof!! I just assumed they would be one whole unit.. Stupid I guess I should really know that.. since we went over everything it just didn't occur to me!! They have also plumbed the house. Bricks still sitting there... Hopefully they start that next... Re: Our Hartley 361- build 170Nov 20, 2012 7:08 pm The reason they would have bricked a few rows is so they can put termite strip in and cavity flashing. Then they can continue on bricking. Hope it all going well love to see some pictures! I still have no Internet on and hate the mobile version so can't wait till its back on! Re: Our Hartley 361- build 171Nov 20, 2012 7:31 pm Oh right thanks Hope the move went well have not took pics as there is nothing to see they have not done a lot really! a bit disappointed ATM but the SS assures me that this week and next week will be more productive and plaster booked for next week.. Fingers crossed Re: Our Hartley 361- build 172Nov 21, 2012 8:33 am Hey ODH, thats exciting to have plastering starting next week, did they finish your bricks? How do they look? Our bricks are well under way as well as they have done the Guttering and Fascia. No roof yet though. It seems DFH do move slower than a lot of the other builders, there are houses in our estate that started well after us and already have the whole external done as well as the plaster inside. We had our frame inspection last week, the independant inspector picked up 12 defects, some that are not complying with Aust Standards so am glad we got the inspection done, even if it did cost a bit. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 173Nov 21, 2012 9:28 am I couldnt see much from the road and it was getting dark, they may of done One layer. We are Planning to go tonight to have a look will take some pics if there is anything worth sharing
Re: Our Hartley 361- build 174Nov 22, 2012 8:44 am Went to the block last night and they have done a fair bit in the past few days since I'd seen it. Bricks have begun and I really absolutely love the colour.. Was worried there for a minute.. But now wrapped!! Sliding door frames are in place which is great to see and shower floors in, can't wait to go over the weekend. I think your just ahead of me as we haven't started the bricks at the bottom of ours yet. Has your electrical been wired up yet? Just wondering in what order yours was going. Re: Our Hartley 361- build 177Nov 22, 2012 3:03 pm Hey ODH, glad you are happy with your Mocha bricks too! I did say they look even better than the samples! Can't wait to go up to our place this week to see how much more they have done. Your external will be done before you know it, are you happy with how the external colours are all coming together? Sorry Bexie, don't know anything about translucent glazing. Are you also building with DFH? Re: Our Hartley 361- build 179Nov 22, 2012 7:32 pm Hi everyone, Tashnstu77- our electrical has been done 2 weeks ago then the plumbing was done afterwards bricks started this week and plaster is meant to be delivered shortly. BexieG- OurHartley has no windows really where you would need the translucent glaze as the shower window is up fairly high and the powderoom/toilet is in the middle of the house so no windows. I did get translucent glass on the front wooden doors and they seemed to be fine with that no issues, but if it's something you really want keep pushing for it. Jpc- You were right about the bricks, we are so happy now that they are starting to lay them. I'm really happy with the external colours so far, I was worried that it just wouldn't go as I was more confident with the internal... Now I'm worried about the internal lol.. But the kitchen should be in soon so can't wait for that Re: Our Hartley 361- build 180Nov 23, 2012 8:46 am I know what you mean, my worry has shifted to the internal colours now too that I am happy with the external! Hey Bexie, something ODH mentioned about her front door glass being glazed made me stop and think again and we do have glazing, so sorry i was having a silly moment I think. We are having Frosted Glazing on the front door but im guessing A&L windows wouldnt have much to do with that.. BUT we are also getting glazing on our ensuite window. It was a last minute thing my Husband added in, i didnt give much thought to it which is why I didnt remember but A&L definently do it cos the window is already in. The contract states 'Provide Obscure White Cathedral glazing to ensuite window in lieu of clear' (dont know what the white is about cos its not a white window but its definetly obscured). It cost $320. Hope that helps Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17588 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23764 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23886 |
