I like your front door to with the square glass, haven't seen that one before. I have had an issue getting on this website, computer keeps tell me cannot find server, but google fixed everything finally, now to log on more regularly. Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Updated Pics! 269Jan 14, 2013 9:39 am Mac I wish we had used more of the rafter tails too. We got rafter tails and a parapet Well the latest house update is that tiles were started friday and when I last looked all the floors were layed. We picked a light grey grout for the lighter tiles and a matching darker grey grout for the laundrey to go with our original dark grey floor tile. Tiler was great to talk to and already had picked out the same grout colours as me. So we were on the same page. Painter seemed like a nice guy too and he has been doing it for many years which is great to hear, just hoping that the painting is of a good quality although it won't be as good as our first house which was literally flawless. Chippie was due to finish on Friday however after talking with hubby we have realised that they have not put on our trim around the two front windows. They will now have to pull some of the boards down from the front as this trim needs to be put on first. I am still in two minds on whether we should just leave it as it already looks really good but my husband wants it on. Looking at the trim it is quite wide so I am hoping it will look good and not too overpowering. Stu keeps reminding me that when it is painted grey we will want that fat white trim at the front to make the grey pop. Anyway here is a pic of our new floor tile which was quite hard to find. It is a porcelain carrara look porcelain tile in 600x300. We found it hard to find a carrara look in this size with a grey vein through it not brown. It's a lovely soft greyish white colour with bits of grey vein through it. This is now going in all the wet areas except the laundry which will keep the original grey we had picked. Sounds like we'll be doing things the other way round - paint and then tiles. Building our first home - Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60033 Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 271Jan 14, 2013 12:55 pm Yeah Reindeer it has been great having them come back early when every other site around have been empty. It's so two steps forward for us then one back at times. Just remember we don't have a kitchen or any vanities yet and the kitchen company only started back today, just thinking about that reminds me that right now they would be starting it....hoping it's right. Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 272Jan 14, 2013 8:40 pm Tash when did you pick your grout colour? We haven't yet and our tiles are supposed to be delivered (though not started) this week. I love that tile! Very classy 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 273Jan 14, 2013 8:53 pm We did pick out our grout tile at our tile selection appointment but we knew we had changed our floor tile and would be needing to speak to the tilers about the change. We had a meeting with them on site and rather then just look at the paperwork provided by M we just talked through everything that needed doing, what went where and we even changed the laying direction of the tiles from what was discussed at M. The tiler had grout samples on him and it was all pretty easy, most easy flexible part of our build so far...just hope they did a good job. Your tiler I am sure would carry around a book or a little pack of samples to show you. So many details you need to think about hey Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 274Jan 16, 2013 10:35 pm The tile looks lovely Tash Our place is being prepared for tiling and the ceilings are being painted. The hebel bath fronts are now on too I understand about the 'pop' as our window trim will be painted a contrast colour to the wall, it'll hopefully break the wall colour and add interest to the front. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 275Jan 17, 2013 8:57 pm Hey Dream, will go and check your thread to see whats been happening. The trim has now been put on but there is now mud all over the front of the weatherboards, site was muddy and it only takes a small amount of rain...no pics as it looks aweful but it will get cleaned up by the poor painters who will have to do that before they start painting. But over all the trim was worth pulling some of the boards up for and I am very happy with it, wish I had put it everywhere but I had to draw the line with budget somewhere. We had some action today and I know that as I decided I couldn't stand peering through windows at my newly laid tiles, so armed with choc chip biccies I turned up on site where thankfully nobody booted me out. I have pics I just have to go through the annoying process of uploading them. Must say I can't stand the mess everywhere, I'm normally very tidy (except for the back of the car) so it's hard to just think that it will ever look like a brand new clean house. Re: Our Grandview 37 Toowoomba - Pic of new floor tile 276Jan 17, 2013 11:22 pm Render has started again now the weatherboard has been done, there were about four guys out doing it. There was another guy inside attaching our cornice to the entrance now that the lining has been finished. No painters though even though they let hubby know they were starting today but I don't think we are ready just yet for them. I want them to be able to paint without lots of other trades in the way. Best of all I have pics galore....if imageshack plays nicely. Husband is in Africa but was able to see some pics too. Gotta say I looooove my subway tile, my little one and I just stood staring at the prettiness and simplicity of it. Turn away now if white offends you. Ensuite blue strip is protecting the silver trim Floor drain in all wet areas and grey veining through tile Main bathroom shower niche Grey porcelain in laundrey One of the linen cupboards near main bathroom still to be painted Lined entrance ceiling with cornice being attached Overall very happy with grout colours and tiles just hope it can stay moderately clean. I certainly will get some more pics going, it's getting harder and harder to get into the place. rellie subway tiles are I really wish we'd used those in the bathroom now ! Your floor tiles are also gorgeous ! Thanks Rellie For all my panicking over thinking these subway tiles were not going to work in my semi modern bathroom it has all come together like some of my inspiration pics and I'm glad I didn't cave and try and "jazz" it up with strips of mosaics and the like. I wanted simple and classic and I'm glad I stuck to it, I'm hoping that ten years from now I will still love it. I know you totally get my style too as I have seen your amazing kitchen and frontage, totally to die for. My husband reminded me last night that our kitchen is due to turn up in a week and a half from now! Eeeek, I'm going to be too scared to look and as things go there is bound to be something or two that is not how I had pictured in my head.
