General consensus regarding height of tv for wall mount seems to be 800 -900mm from base of tv to floor. Given that, I would assume best to put a GPO and conduit at around 1100 - 1200mm from floor?? Theatre will have a 55 - 60" and living area probably 42". With above dimensions the power point and wall plate would probably end up being located UNDER the bracket for wall mount?? Does this seem about right? Re: New build - planning for wall mounted TVs. 2Aug 18, 2012 10:06 pm I have mounted two tv's on the wall, and the issue seems to be if you put the power point etc behind the tv you have two problems. 1 - missing the bracket 2 - the plug! Most plugs are the long tall ones, not ideal! A flat side entry plug can help but with the super thin mounts its still to small! The option I have used in the past is to drop the cables from the tv, power, aerial, hdmi etc down the wall, you can get plates with half domes or like a comb in them which the cables pass through! Last time I put one in I left a draw wire in the wall, so if your building just ask the builder to not put noggins in the wall from tv height down! Then you can cut a hole and drop a string on a weight down to pull your cables in with! Not normally a problem on larger tv's, but just make sure you will pick up some timber work to screw the tv bracket to! Plaster just won't support a tv! 2 Re: New build - planning for wall mounted TVs. 5Aug 23, 2012 11:28 am You need to have a close look at the actual wall bracket you will be using and plan from there. Looking at your average bracket like on this page there are spaces either above or below the frame where you could install the GPO etc. and are still out of sight. Just get your measurements right. http://www.proaudiovisual.com.au/lcd-pl ... t-bracket/ Is it a bare brick wall or plastered ? What is on the other side ? Possibility of installing the GPO etc on the other side of the wall ? We have built false walls in front of original ones in the past to hide wires , pipes, conduits etc. then gyprocked over.
