Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 24, 2012 7:09 pm I'm hoping for some advice. We've built a new house on a one acre property, that I look forward to turning into our dream home, but I wanted some advice on how to set up the layout of the block. It needs to cater for fruit orchard, veggie garden etc. But I want to do the planting myself over time, all I need now is a concept plan, and some hints for preparatory work (where do I need to bring in top soil, add gypsum etc) Am I looking for a landscape architect, or should I be approaching the local nursery ?? Re: Landscape Design / Concept for one Acre 2Jul 24, 2012 7:51 pm How deep are your pockets? We are on one acre and are doing it ourselves-link in my signature. Local nursery should be able to point you in the right direction-especially if you take a site plan in. Have you observed you block over a full year? Do you know if you have wet patches in winter, overshadowing from trees etc? You dont need full on construction plans, use them to draw up a master plan to scale. These plans will take into account sun light, micro climates, soil type, drainage etc. They will also recommend what ammendments you need for the soil and fixes for other site issues. Once you have the plans you can confidently create your garden bit by bit diy or using contractors. I think NSW somewhere... He recently did a landscape design for our 2acres & we're based in SA, all contact was via email & then he sent the final plans in the mail. He did a really good job, we had a full set of plans done with all the plants listed along with their descriptions etc. I'm pretty sure he is happy to just do a layout if that's all you're after. He took into account our soil type, prevailing wind direction etc etc Building our custom design "Dream Home" Follow my Build - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46820 Contract Signed - 28/04/11 Siteworks Commenced - 20/06/11 Landscape Design Parramatta We have been doing a large amount of landscape design work in Sydney… 0 3 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24872 Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10034 |
